Plotting course to Colonia

I have my ship ready to go to Colonia and now am ready to start. I would like to use the neutron hiway. How do I go about plotting it? Is this something I can do in game now with the last update or do I need to use the neutron plotter?

Sure, you can do it in-game too now. It's somewhat less efficient, but you don't need to call up the galaxy map over a hundred times then.
If you wish to use the in-game plotter, you should first head into the neutron fields. Once you're there, set the plotter to use neutron stars and M (or K/M) stars only, and make sure that the target system you pick is still in the same plane. Colonia is slightly off of it (-910 ly), so you'll want to pick a system around 100-150 ly below it.

When leaving from the bubble, you'll want to travel downward at an angle to get to around -1000 ly from the galactic plane, and the neutron stars will start showing up around 1-2 kly out (I don't have an exact number, unfortunately). Usually I travel at roughly +/- 1100 ly from the plane, but since Colonia is close to the lower neutron field, it makes more sense to go down than up. This will let you ride through about 20 kly with neutron boosts most of the way, and Colonia is within a single neutron jump (assuming a decent jump range on your ship) from the lower field beneath it.

I'd still refrain to use the in game route plotter, it's not really effective if you want to go somewhere fast.
Using spansh route plotter it gives me a route of roughly 130 jumps from sol to colonia using a 60ly anaconda.
That's a bit more than 2 hours jumping.

I had similar results coming back from Colonia recently, using the in-game plotter. It's probably slightly less efficient, but you can use it 100% inside the game. Very useful especially for VR players.

I have made it half way using the spanish neutron router. Working very well. I dont think my FSD will make it though. I have 1 5B AFMU and seem to be going through it fast.

Do you have an SRV or synthesis materials? Alternatively consider hitting up one of the stations/bases enroute to colonia and getting a resupply.

I made it here to Colonia last night. I did bring a srv and thought of AFMU refill right after I posted. I did exactly that. I made the journey in 190 jumps. Didn't do any exploration but was very temping. About 8000ly out I was going crazy with seeing so many stars. Tonight I am going to start exploring these many stars.

Congrats, it's quite the journey to Colonia but made a ton easier by neutrons and engineering :D

There's a few planetary nebula around which are really awesome points to visit near the core. One with my name on is Dumboi XP-X E1-7577 which is perhaps one of my favourite systems.

You guys are spoiled, for me the last leg of 2.5kly took 122 jumps... :)

20ly? Ah, perhaps you shouldn't have taken the cargo rack full of household appliances. I mean there's the phrase "packing the kitchen sink" but thats a whole new level :D

Would it be bad to say on my race run to Colonia that would have taken me 13 jumps? #galaxyistoosmall :)

Multirole Corvette with a couple of tons of Guardian artefacts for no good reason (sold them at Jaques). :)
An 8A distributor weighing 160 tonnes is definitely not explorer stuff. :)

Wasnt that a song by WASP?

Ha, Maybe. :)
The Trail of Tears I had in mind refers to the journey undertaken by a group of native American Indians collectively referred to as the five civilized tribes after being forcibly removed from their ancestral homelands in the 1830's and marched to an area west of the Mississippi in which four thousand people died. Not to trivialize matters of course.
