Frontier cant deliver.

A simple question.

What is going on here? Where is the story? - Is the story just CG after CG? In 2.4? Nothing. Just Nothing. I spent 130 pounds on this game in the vain hope that Braben could pull it together. Nope. Its a complete and utter disaster. At least Bell knew how procedural galaxy's worked.

Lets list this out shall we?

On the plus side:

1: A wonderfully realized Galaxy.
2: Good ship models, and handling.
3: Good fighting.

And that is as far as Frontier has gone.

Lets realize the bad.

1: Utterly Politics. In the off case where people care, they usually get forgotten. Powerplay my . It means nothing.
2: Dead worlds, Dead stations. It means nothing too when there is nothing there.
3: The game is mainly on the forums.
4: What is your job? I brought a game NOT a ticket to this forum. What are you doing?

There are more than enough constructive and sensible threads about the same topic.

Well. cmon. What FD are doing at the moment is taking the out of us. They indroduced a new story....line.... that is going nowhere fast. I couldent care less about the thargoids. The storyline has absolutely no effect on me, my ship or my routine. I can fall asleep quite happily.
How am I meant to feel engaged when everything is always the same?

The best thing to do is simply uninstall and walk away.

I used to play every day and I was on this forum 6-7 times a day if not more, but I eventually got fed up of the direction the game is going in and the fact that it simply does NOT feel like an 'Elite' game whatsoever and I uninstalled it over 4 months ago, I do still glance at the forums (well dur!) but only maybe once every 2 weeks or so.

I live in hope the game can turn a corner and get that Elite 'feel' to it but I doubt that will happen now, no matter what anyone says, the game DESPERATELY needed Ian Bells input.
I love Elite and always will, but power play, engineers, cqc.. it's just all utter garbage.

I don't totally blame Mr Braben but I believe he's been listening to others to much, others who don't have a clue about Elite, so just uninstall it and walk away or take a long break and hope that something can be salvaged from this train-wreck.

I disagree. It helps me as the customer to identify that I am not the only one who feels this way, and hopefully it helps FD to identify that their delivery thus far has been lackluster.

As OP said... we have this cool galaxy, and cool spaceships, and a cool flight model, but the story and the backdrop (BGS, PP, etc) are sorely lacking.

I admire yer enthusiasm but...well these threads never end well and thats assuming they get any traction at all...hopefully it wont. Nothing personal but the forums are depressing enough as it is without making it worse what with there being absolutely nothing else to talk about apart from where things went wrong. Load up some braindead on the rails shooter fer a month and see how the other half live fer a month or two cos the more ye debate in an echo chamber, the more bitter ye will become...trust me, better just to walk away...

So can I haz yer stuff or not?

Sadly, I have to agree. I really did try to get all into the Thargoids, but there just doesn't seem to be much there.

I live in Houston, right? The Thargoids going nuts in the Pleiades is like cartels going nuts at the Mexican border. I mean, it's there, but it's not preventing me from buying donuts in the morning, you know?

The bubble should have burned. I'm talking whole swaths of civilization wiped out, near genocide. CMDRs running for their lives, outfitting and supply totally going to hell. Repair services disabled. Markets shut down. More and more bugs around every other star. Humans in their spaceships scattering like cockroaches. Famines and outbreaks and busts plaguing the few leftover pockets of civilization. Once High and Medium sec systems going total Anarchy. That would have been something.

I'm well out of it (exploring) & have been for over a year now, but my impression is that it's all very subtle, too subtle for many I guess.

I have a theory that when you step back far enough & look at the big picture as only the devs could, it makes sense. Down on the shop floor it all just looks like Brownian motion but they see the nice hot cup of tea.

Why? Because some players want it and it feels epic?

I don't think I would enjoy that kind of story.

I am playing game and frankly I regret more and more reading these forums, that is obvious that people get bored and can't find anything else to do.

While I actually have very little time in my daily routine to play it and so in result I enjoy every minute of it.

Get some perspective.

OP... Elite Dangerous is an average niche game that has 6k players in peak times (Steam stats.. yes not everyone is on steam, most of us are) - usually old farts .

You expect it to be a great game... numbers show different and you expect too much lol

We get what we get.. and imagine the rest.
