End Gamer/Wing/Squadron PvE Content

Just a quick reminder, FD.

Please, with all the updates you're getting on with, don't forget to add some PvE content for the end gamers, wings, and new squadrons!

By content, I simply mean I place to go, wherethe difficulty is ramped up to the absolute maximum, where the best pilots, wings, or squadrons can go to test their skills in PvE.

Combat wise, I was thinking, make some of those CQC assets in to 'pirate danger zones', or something.
Where all pirates turn hostile, as soon as you attack one of them. And more show up regularly to join in. Or something like that.
Something where you're heavily outnumbered, ideally.
(My personal preference is more opponents over a harder to kill single opponent, it requires more tactics to fight off multiple attackers)

With engineering and wings, and the new squadrons coming, the current game lacks any sort of challenge for players in engineered end game ships.

For reference, I can take my PvE mission runner Anaconda (not dedicated combat), to a CZ and stay there until I run out of ammo, or get bored.
I can also take cargo to CNBs, and HAZ RES', and do the same.
And it's not even fully modified yet. :D
I also own a Corvette, which also is only half modified, and can do the same.
It's in no way difficult for me, and if I add another player, then it just becomes even easier, which is actively putting me off using wings for combat.

The alien content is good, but it's a bit far from home, and I was more on about "day to day" activities, like bounty hunting, or combat zones.

TL : DR
Wings, Engineers, Squadrons, etc are all great, but please add some challenging gameplay to go with them. :)
Even if it's just simple to start with.

Cue calls of "there is no end game in Elite" so people can avoid discussing challenging content ;)

Elite still hasn't moved on beyond being a solo game. Wings simply allow players to communicate as they gang up on opponents you know you could solo anyway, as you rightfully point out.

To be honest, the amount of work that should be done to resolve this is worthy of an entire season, not just "please sir can we squeeze a bit in here". Alas, I do not see that happening </3

I know there's no 'end game', it's more of a term I used to describe CMDRs flying big fully engineered ships.
Like me. I enjoy the bigger ships. Which is why it's annoying when people say "if you want a challenge, fly a Sidewinder!"

I didn't buy the game to fly the Sidewinder, and I didn't spend hundreds of hours to fly the ships you can get in the first 10 minutes. :p
Yes, I enjoy taking out the little ships for a spin, but I love getting in the thick of it in my Anaconda (and Corvette), and so far, the only way to do that is attack security, or a CZ without picking a side.
Small ships simply can not take the beating from multiple opponents, that big ships can.

But yeah, there's loads of ideas floating about for more scaled and challenging content, but the most simple solution I listed above. Just some random CQC assets dotted about, that serve no purpose other than have hoards of pirates around.
And it doesn't interfere with the rest of the game, because there is actually no reason to visit this place, unless you want to kill pirates.
No improved AI picking on newbies, no over engineered NPC's wrecking traders. No salt farming from unskilled combat pilots.
Just a CQC station loaded with pirates. Lol

To be honest, I'd actually argue there is an endgame. ED doesn't have the inherent depth to support any kind of progressive or meaningful PvE content once you have unlocked and engineered a couple of high-end ships. Between having no real ability to affect the galaxy, and the lack of content you are drawing attention to here, there is simply no purpose.

But yes, I can't say much more than I thoroughly agree with this sentiment, and I am as much baffled by players that suggest we shouldn't have any challenging content because one could just fly a weaker ship. Let's see ED actually try to be a multiplayer game, yes?

I haven't visited all the systems in the galaxy yet, so I still have purpose :)

Nonetheless, +1 for challenging content for experienced players and groups.

A short story of challenging content actually ingame (in spoiler becouse not really relevant to thread):

Actually some of the "Special Op's Missions" have put me under preassure lately. I had to yield and give up on the mission even in a wing with a friend. Admitted we were not flying the big ships, but more pvp oriented outfits of FDL and FAS - but well engineered.

Never the less our NPC opposition was very challanging. We were presented with deadly and even elite Cutters and Condas with fighters and all this in a medium security system where the have gotten backup by system security soon enough. We were forced to wake out and repair several times. Becouse our NPC oppostion was auto-repaired after leaving the instance we could not win this scenario.

I fully agree that also my game-experience would profit very much from some places where one could find challanging PvE combat for the high-end (engineered) ships of Elite. I fully support that some of those CQC installations ingame could and should be put to use for such "high-danger" encounters.

Of course Frontier could improve this experience with special missions leading to this place with different combat objectives, like: disable the pirates capital-ship to prepare it for boarding by naval forces or steal the gold from the pirate hide-out or rescue the slaves that are held by the guarded pirate hauler or helpt the pirates defend from a navy assault or deliver some cargo to the pirate base during a navy blockade...

+Rep, this' the right proposal in the right time. Beyond needs some more challanging game-play.

If I hit max level in an MMORPG with highest possible raid gear, I'm still considered to be endgame, even if I haven't visited every rock on the floor ;)

When one generally refers to "endgame" though they typically mean there is no progression left, which is absolutely true of Elite, and is absolutely true that it doesn't exist as enough of a multiplayer game that activities such as PowerPlay can be seen as "progressive".

Of course, not to diminish your own sense of enjoyment. All props to you if the game keeps you happy. And it's not fair to say the game doesn't make me happy; it's just upsetting to see the utterly wasted potential.

go there the cargo hold full of gold bullion :p

it is true that if they are not numerous enough, the problem is the same ... but there is a little more challenge too ... while waiting for an update.

otherwise I proposed NPC pulls in modules for more challenge .. but that did not inspire so far haha.. too dangerous certainly..

It doesn't really constitue good personal story telling.
