New explorer, help plotting a course

Hey guys I am sure this has been covered in other places but I can not figure out how to plot a custom route.

So I recently got into exploring and would pick random stars or maybe a constellation that I'd go map and recently decided I wanted to try to map an entire nebula. So I made it out to the elephant trunk nebula and got a list of all the star systems. But I can't figure out how to enter in each system to creae a map to make sure I hit every star. It's kinda obnoxious manually typing in a new star every time i complete a jump. Is there a way to build a map/route or do I need to keep doing it the way I am currently, jump to system 1, input system 2, jump to it, input system 3 ... 670+ times?

Within the game itself i do not believe there is a way to create a custom plot, so the way you are doing it seems to be the only method.

One thing to consider, if you haven't done so already, is change your plot settings to 'efficient' rather than 'fastest' which can make things a little easier to see when zoomed in quite close on the galmap. Also, switch your filter to visited stars / not visited stars, which helps to ensure you hit every star.

You can also filter based on visited stars, so that you can see which ones you've been to, and even automatically exclude them.

If there aren't too many stars in the area you want to visit, you could also use bookmarks. Go to the area you want to map, and book mark all the stars you want to hit, and then just visually pick the next one after you get done with one. And once you scan the system, remove the bookmark.

ETA: Just saw that you have over 670 systems in you list so the bookmark method above would not be a great solution. If you have the list as an electronic document, you can copy and paste the names from there into the GalMap.

I just do it simple, after I have completed the scan in a system, I go to the Nav panel, and scroll down to the first system ie...the closest system to your current location, I select it, and if it the star information is listed, then I know I've been to that system, so then go to the next and next til I get to one that says "unknown", its a bit quicker then checking the Gal Map after each jump, and it works well when inside a nebula, you just have to check every so often in the Gal Map to make sure yer still inside the nebula.....
