- Everyone still have their "Alien encounters" stat on their Statistics tab?
- Reason I ask that is because I was jumping between systems, when my game hung in hyperspace, had to kill the process. Oddly, when I logged back in, I was 14,000Ls from any bodies in the system. That only really happens when hyperdicted in my experience, or this is just some new bug in the game. Went to see if there was any info in the statistics section on hyperdictions, only to find it wasn't there.
- Reason I wonder this is because the system in question is COL 285 Sector ZE-A A30-2, well inside the bubble.
I'm erring that this might be just a bug, but putting it here just in case.
TBH this sounds like a hyperdiction bugged out. It is very rare to see hyperdictions inside teh bubble, but some have been rported. Plus, it rings a bell that there were several reported in COL 285 sector (however I am out of home now and unable to properly check the databases).
My Encounters section only appeared after being hyperdicted in 2.4, I was hyperdicted back in 2.3 but the stats weren't there then. Best bet is to jump around a bit in the Pleiades sector hoping to get hyperdicted again

OK, so I think I know what's going on, and it's not bugged Thargoid Hyperdictions.
Remembered casually reading this thread. Decided to go back and have a closer look... nevermind the topic itself, but short version of the Op is "If I close the game during hyperspace, I log back on tens of thousands of Ls away from the jump-in point."
So, I don't think these are hyperdictions bugging out, just "standard", albiet buggy, behaviour.
Professor Boden Tench, principal researcher at Titan's Daughter, offered the following statement to Universal Scientist:
“We’re currently focusing on the Thargoid Probes and Sensors, and we’ve already learned a great deal about the way the Thargoids transmit and store information.”
“We’ve also been studying the star maps found inside Thargoid structures. We still don’t know the precise purpose of these maps, but our analysis has revealed some intriguing details about how the Thargoids categorise geographical data. Indeed, it’s entirely possible that their concepts of territory differ dramatically from our own.”
Edit: Don't see anything new in Taygeta - looks like it's just moving the story along in Galnet, or maybe giving some clue we missed??

"WHAT DOES IT DO?
The player that scans it will receive 3 inbox messages, all contain an identical message, if you analyse this audio it produces what you see below. This is the new spectrogram that seems to have a system map of Merope and an as of yet unknown system we cannot identify. The map as you will see below, has an Image of a TS, TP and TL and what appear to be Thargoid ships in the upper corner. One of the original images can be found here It is still highly debated and theorized of it’s true meaning, but as like the TP’s spectrogram, it is still unknown on what its true meaning may be, "
EDIT: Everyone is assuming it's the big light show, I'm asking if we know it's the big light show or if people are just assuming it's the big light show when actually Aegis might mean these "starmaps"... (I'm also assuming it means the big lightshow).
I'd say looking at the image, it's quite clear they're talking about the light show in the structure bit, because that image isn't a star map. However, I think the Galnet post might actually be referring to both in a round about sort of way, given the bit about how the Sensors and Probes record and transmit.

I don't know if this has been discused here yet, but has anyone tried to connect both Thargoid Probe and Thargoid Device spectrograms? Because I did and I grasped something more or less solid. Here's the thing:
Thargoid Probe spectrogram (thanks to Canonn):
Thargoid device spectrogram:
I need you to have both spectrograms at hand, so you can check what I'm about to say. First of all, let's focus on the Device one. We can see a grid with three artifacts in front of it, we will asume that --|, -|- and -|| represents Thargoid Sensor, Thargoid Link and Thagoid Probe respectively. There is a Merope map on the left and an unknown system on the right hand side. The most important things here are: The way that (PROBABLY) different artifacts are coded (--|, -|- and -||) and the Merope map (we can see its belt and the different planets with the moons).
Lets focus now on the spectrogram the TP leaves, here we have the same codes we saw before (they are coded slightly different now; ••|, •|• and •||) but surrounding a star? player's radar? I would say it represents the Merope star because of the curvy thing over it, representing Merope's belt, but it can also be the same grid we saw in the Thargoid Device spectrogram, which can also be the player's radar. Notice that the ••| (possibly the TP) has a strange )) symbol which can represent that it needs to be honked in order to start a reaction.
Out of this, we can state that:
- We need four artifacts (two TS, one TL and one TP) surrounding Merope's star OR surrounding a vessel and honking the TP.
- Artifacts have a codification that has (maybe) been potentialy obviated in other spectrograms/graphs/symbols.
- Maybe the second system in Device's spectrogram is a representation of Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3.
Let me know what you think and sorry if this has been posted before here or somewhere else.
So, something bugging me has been a lack of imagery of the various bits of Thargoid Salvage that drops off as you fight a Thargoid ship. So at significant risk and hundreds of thousands in repairs, I've hot-shot some salvage mid-fight with a Thargoid. It's really interesting to look at.
Wreckage Components (They're... blue?)
Propulsion Components
Bio-tech Conduits
And, what I think is most interesting (and therefore gets more shots)...
Weapons Parts
There's considerably similarities between the tubes in the weapons parts and the Thargoid Sensor fragments. Obviously with the honeycombing these probably "grow" or are built in the lattice and released when necessary. The corrosive missiles? Developing Thargons? Who knows...
The wrecks (as in dead hulk's killed in combat) of the Flowerships are quite interesting too, as they definitely don't see to have an interior for a crew analeg to human crewed ships.
