There is a few comments scattered about where some people are blaming the selective mode system for why they no longer play PP.
But there seems to be just as many blaming the feature for being half baked in the first place.

Apart from that, the rest seems to be folks either trying to learn about PP or enjoying it and trying to get get folks to focus on goals - aka, trying to herd cats.

His concept is simple: He is the overlord of Eravate, pay him respect or die. You could also die anyway because it entertains him, be sold to the thargoids, or having your favorite dock entrance blocked by his infamous anaconda.
Of course, you're angry when someone gank you in your starter pack sidewinder, or when you couldn't finish him because he used to combat log (over now), but you're missing the point.
Somebody has programmed a vocoder, edited videos and prepared countless dark lord-style speeches just to make you laugh, to entertain you and to fill all of this emptiness.
He even did it with gusto, writing entire "it's a trap" stories with classical music on the background, and fake special effects.
That somebody is a genius, and a generous-with-his-time genius.

But apparently, a lot of people in the community are either below 18, stuck in this "you have to be tough in high school" mentality, or totally lack 2nd degree understanding, which is a big problem for an adult.

Stop trying to mock him, you just appear as big morons cause HIS ENTIRE CHARACTER IS MADE TO PROVOKE LAUGHTER, even his occasional clumsiness.
So you get people trying to get to him personnaly for revenge, downvoting him on reddit, even trash-talking him because somebody has committed the unsufferable sin of writing an article about him (deleted).

Do you really think it is?
It seems more important (or accurate) the opinion of those who are not playing/interested in PP, PvP or a crimininal role for implementing changes concerning PP, PvP or criminality, because people who have no interest at all are the most talking about those topics against all player's propositions focused on the improvement or players' fun playing those "mechanics".
And the funny point, is that FDev are hearing those people, people who have no idea about how it feels to be in those sides of the game.

Surely you mean some open players might be celebrating it, especially those who like to operate in and around Erevate. Mobius players shouldn't really care at all since his play never affected them.

And that's the irony... but they complain about "griefers" the most and fight against all the propositions concerning open mode, while "multiplayers" start getting bored.
FDev should delete their trailers and close open forever.

So while I didnt whole hartedly agree with Zarek's Noob squashing, part of me is sad he has gone. The game needs the celebrity players both good and bad, also some of his videos are amusing in a sideways kind of way.

I wonder did he get bored of PVP or has just done it all and run out of things to do.

Noob splatting is like station griefing, its done by a lot of bored multi billionaires in the last gasp of having ruined the game for themselves via exploiting away achievable progress. Itchy Nipples was that way from pre-release thanks to the scan/bounty exploit.

Kill (proc generated number) bots - cz
Kill (proc generated number) bots in planet rings - bounty hunting
Go to A - B - C 100 times - trading

Go to (proc generated name) system and scan (proc generated name) planet base

Go to planet (proc generated name) and shoot 200 rocks for (proc generated name) material

Repeat everything and few of your bars move up (ranks and credits)

Yawn....

I prefer all of those activities to PvP. Your mileage may vary as people have differing personalities.
