Disney becomes the owner of the franchises:

The Simpsons, The Griffins (Family Guy), The X-Men, The Ice Age, Alien, American Dad, The Fantastic Four, Avatar (James Cameron) etc ...

Marvel will be able to unify its properties into joint movies/TV series. This bodes well for Avengers vs X-Men as a movie.

Unfortunately DC is stuck - with Time Warner unable to get approval for its (also very big) merger.
