Powerplay Pulse Disruptors are a waste of time

So 4 weeks waste of my time fast tracking and running leaflets cargo for an underpowered pulse disruptor laser.
I could have easily avoided investing time in an underpowered weapon if the stats were displayed in game e.g. Powerplay menus.

  • It only does 4.3 DPS in fixed weapon mode only which is terrible for playing on a PS4 controller
  • Only comes in a single class 2 option
  • Weaker than Scramble spectrum which based on comparison videos has far better results
  • It doesn't stop NPC's shields from regenerating

Enforcers, Hammers and Pack Hounds are widely known to be more effective for burst damage which makes more the rest of the PP faction rewards relatively pointless.

Um..you could have checked in Coriolis or ED: Shipyard?

Or asked the forums?

Just FYI, I am pretty sure all PP weapons are fixed only. And only come in one size.

1) You spent four weeks hauling crap for Winters and never bothered to ask any Winters pilots (or anyone else) if the Pulse Disruptor is any good or not? Almost nobody uses it. It's not very good.

2) You're missing out on the best if you think Enforcers, Hammers, and Packhounds are the good Powerplay modules. Prismatic Shields, Advanced Plasma, and Grom Missiles are the good ones right now. Arguably the Pacifier is pretty good for burst damage. Check before you pledge for four weeks looking for something next time.

1) It's not about whether I bothered or not.Asking in game doesn't compare to seeing the actual data represented in game so I can decide for myself.
I prefer playing the game and getting my information from the game's UI as opposed to hunting through reams of forum threads posted in the past year looking for info that still applies to the most recent updates. Sometimes it takes a YT video to show the pros and cons.
2) No players I've spoken to on PSN about PVP have even mentioned the Pacifier. I don't need to check before I pledge to any power. It's a videogame not a work assignment.

Can pulse disruptors be engineered to have double effect, e.g. Pulse Disruption and Phasing?

ED isn't really a good game to do that, in-game so much relevant information is either obscured, overly inconvenient to get or just not there. There is a reason there are so many good third party tools/websites for this game, be it for outfitting, engineering, trading,...

Suck it up man.. You got them. They may get better in the future? ++ Powerplay is just a 4 week wait with very little to do anyway.
Classic misuse of a forum .. Come on to complain after instead of ask questions before. XD o7

They are scarily effective if your ship has a decent distro- with engineering it can hit very hard. Aside from odd effects from phasing they do 1 AP damage though, so once the shield goes any other damage is trivial to hull.

However, I did have 8 degrees of jitter on them!

And therein lies the problem. Lazy game developers letting the community build user interface improvements for them that should be in the game in the the first place. It breaks the immersion having to use a second screen to stay appraised of available commodities and equipment. It's like Frontier dev never heard of action RPG staple features like the codex. Used by Square Enix, Bioware and many other developers to describe game locations, factions and inventory items discovered by the player.

That's not the way it works. The forum is perfect place to complain if the game didn't work as advertised. That's why half the players are complaining rightly or wrongly about some aspect or other. Not only that you spend time getting an unlock, it should be immediately be better than what you've already got or it's pointless pledging and wasting your own valuable time in the first place.

You haven't been told about Cytoscramblers? With inertial impact they become the most fun weapon in the game.

No because of game UI failure to show weapon comparison benefits. RPGs such as Mass Effect Andromeda which do this out of the box. I can see within that game's interface in just a couple button presses which guns modded or not will be an upgrade.
