PvP My experience with the PvP hub - a shout out and kudos

They knew about it for a YEAR, they didnt do anything, and they would continue to ignore it if Shady wouldn't post that video, FDEV had no choice but to act upon this when the bug was finally exposed for the whole community and not just for a select few.

Sorry, to elaborate...I know it was in existence well before - the point was indeed that once it gained the public PvP association it suddenly became a crime akin to genocide, and only then did it get fixed.

You know, I wonder....if we make a thing of gankers combat logging, do you reckon FD will have a fix for it within the week? *strokes beard*

Unfortunately, we know the answer to that: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...vestigation_into_frontiers_actions_on_combat/

Well to be fair for them it is a PVP thing, noone cares if you use exploited modules against NPCs, and they only fixed it because it finally floated on the surface, they would continue to keep it in hidden if that video wouldn't be made.

There have been, yes. If you request one, it may take a little longer to fill up, but people are willing.

I've had a short break from serious PvP/combat while I moved house and rebuilt my ED setup, but I'm jumping back in. You may well find me popping a request to join in, in which case I am well up for some unengineered fights.

Boo. If at any point you have an initiative to further address this and need some noise made, I can rattle a few bars. That's just outright godawful practice on their part.

Well that's my point-it doesn't make the player any better for using it in PvE at all. It's simple hypocrisy.

Is x activity an exploit? Yes? Then you're bad for doing it, mm'kay? ;)

I'll elaborate.

"The fault lies mainly with Frontier". I disagree there. Frontier is at fault for introducing the bug, those who cheated are at fault for exploiting the bug. Both are at fault on different sides of the coin.

I 100% agree my friend. One hundred percent. However as you're speaking for someone else I'll speak for Algo: from what I understand of his post he was more addressing that FD were fully aware of this for some time, not that they introduced it at all. Bugs happen man.

Given I suspect FD chose not to publically acknowledge it, after several months of refusing to engage with the problem you leave a hell of a lot of ambiguity.

Either way, I'm glad that players that engaged in the exploit - PvE, PvP or otherwise - had the modules removed.

I have no issue with people that want to play in solo or PG, that's their decision.

Herbrand encouraging cheating to avoid legitimate gameplay is actually toxic, and we don't want that in our community. That's our decision, and no one has a right to join the hub. We'll welcome people that will follow the rules, and being a combat logger or encouraging logging doesn't fit that rule set. He has openly admitted to both multiple times, so he clearly can't follow the rules of the group, so he was banned. If he'd like to be a part of it, he has to follow the same guidelines to get back into GCI.

That's certainly a compelling argument in favour of not infiltrating Mobius.

i'll ellaborate a bit further: frontier is also at fault of knowing about the exploit and doing nothing for months.

how anyone can think that's an acceptable way to run an online multiplayer game is beyond me. and people still call this a pvp game ... [knocked out]

That's a real great distraction technique, but violating Mobius rules is not on the same plane as combat logging. One is poor manners, the other is a literal exploit.

I always find it funny that outspoken people like you guys get so bent about the 5-1 exploit but are relatively silent about an exploit that has done exponentially more damage to the game, and has been around for 4 years at this point. You're so willing to shame the people that used 5-1, while ignoring combat logging advocates. If I weren't so lazy, I could probably go back and find indignant posts from both you and Herbrand about the 5-1 exploit.

You follow PG rules or you don't. You cheat or you don't.

The current conflicting signals are making me laugh.

PG rules are developed by the person running the PG and not FDev. If I violate PG rules, there is no repercussion beyond being kicked from the group.

The fact that you think that violating PG rules is on the same level as violating FDev rules is hilariously sad, but completely explains your hypocrisy.

Given that, I'm now combat logging from this conversation.

Yeah but what about ... *ryan_m disappears*

Crap. I had a really good argument.

Except of course for the minor detail that I never actually did, that only happened inside your head (and Eve's).

I don't cheat, either 5-1 or clogging therefore I dissaprove of both.

I don't break PG rules, yours Mobius's or any others therefore I dissaprove of any breaches.

Since you think it's important that I explain the self evident severity of cheating in comparison to breaking PG rules, I'd say cheating is much worse, with clogging at the lower end of the scale and the 5-1 exploit at the upper, hacking is at the extreme bad end.

Nice job trolling the thread into the ground, guys.

*looks around*

...moi?

So will you be posting how important it is to respect PG rules next time someone mentions Mobius Jason ?.

I think you're going to need some proof about me ever stating anywhere for any PG that it's ok to disrespect the group's rules. See, this is what I mean by trolling, Bob. You just make ugly stuff up and throw it out there in an effort to derail the thread, because you're blinded by your hatred of all things PvP to the point where you even disrespect AA's own subject matter.

On topic, when I read the OP, my thoughts were that it was pretty cool to see such a well known group PvE player as Agony joining in on some fun educational activities with the PvP community, to the point where he (you are a dude, right Agony Aunt?) felt motivated to give a positive shout out to the club. Good to see IMO.
