PvP My experience with the PvP hub - a shout out and kudos

I agree on flying techniques, but how about you put yourself in a handicap and show us how it's done? Like bi-weave FAS against scramble FDL? Are you good enough for that?

Did I mention I fly 4 0 2? If he flies Gunship it means he needs more skills to win than your meta b-s and I have more respect for him.

I fly gunships and dropships all the time against meta loadouts and I 100% agree with what Ryan said. Sure they are viable in 1v1's and 2v2's, but in large wing fights they're liabilities. Too slow to keep up with faster ships, not manoeuvrable enough to evade damage or to line up their own shots, and not tanky enough to survive a wing's focus given that they can't evade as well as other ships.

Flying 4-0-2 doesn't mean anything in the gunship either. Firstly, it means you're slow(er) with only one boost in reserve. Secondly, 4 pips to SYS means that your biweaves are going to last an extra 2 seconds against a wing's focus, or 6-10 seconds if you have a prismatic (no, SCB's won't save you since everyone carries cascade rails). Thirdly, it doesn't at all change how your hull performs when taking damage, which is where the majority of your hitpoints come from in larger fights. Change your pips around depending on the situation, with 4 pips to SYS while shields are up and with as many engine pips as you can manage while shields are down so that you can boost around everywhere.

Rooks, if you're lookin for fun don't listen to him... he's 100 rolls meta boi, not everyone has time for that. This hub is egomaniac s*it show and you'll have more fun at CG against 4 0 2 FAON maniacs so do whatever the F you wanna do!

If you're looking for fun, bring your gunship to the hub and mention that you're bringing a gunship. We often do a thing where both sides bring a gunship, and each team is only allowed to shoot the enemy gunship once all the other enemies are dead. Compensates for the gunship's lack of health/manoeuvrability and makes things enjoyable.

The hub is not the "egomaniac sh*t show" that you seem to think it is, likely because you have never actually participated in it at all.

Hey, everyone and especially Agony Aunt, my apologies.

I had no intention of derailing the thread or contributing to its' derailment. My first posts were an attempt to get some general questions answered; not just for myself but for others that showed interest in participating. Rules of engagement are important to know, so the more info posted about that, the less confusion for everyone. (hopefully less salt) The helpful build tips and advice given, are a bonus and I thank those of you that shared.

From what I've read of ryan's build suggestions in the past, and of his suggestions that I've tried for myself, he's been on the money. Based upon my experiences in that respect, I've little reason to doubt what he says.

As far as my own skill in Elite D, I assume that I have none when facing unknown quantities. This qualifies. I'm not expecting to do as well as AA did. I've got much to learn and I'm expecting to get owned often. But it will still be fun for me and that's the whole point.

You're fine, man. You'll be on roughly balanced teams with people that want to help you out. Dying happens 50% of the time, at a minimum. Don't even sweat it.
