Star Citizen Discussions v7

Not sure why they added it now but you can google limitation of liability clause. Maybe they are worried about being sued for frying your graphics cards or something?

New TOS :D

How about a big fat NO, Genuine Roberts :D

That was what tipped it for me for the refund last year.

So you think it's okay to take money while you eff around trying to figure out if you can fulfill all the BeeEss promises you've made over all these years?

Well that's a giant eff off. Other people are actually doing the stuff you BeesEssd promised - better than you for years now.

So yeah - just eff off.

The build seems to be in a very bad shape but at least everyone can play it now... Don't know if it's a good or bad decision considering the concierges already had access to it...

There is no need to celebrate this as a "victory" for CiG because most people seem to have forgotten the situation at hands.

3.0 was originally announced for end of 2016 and never showed despite "footage" being aired to fuel anniversary sales. After it was discovered early 2017 that 3.0 was non-existent despite "evidence" shown in 2016 CiG took 12 months to improve and polish 3.0 in order to provide backers with the best possible experience....bug-free and smooth.

Thats the expectation and the reason given by CiG for the heavy delay regarding 3.0

Now they push 3.0 in a state that is beyond belief. Riddled with bugs and glitches, stumbling over things that shouldnt be a problem 5+ years into development and worse.....NOT SHOWING any of the stuff that was shown in 2016.

Its kinda hard for me to praise CiG for something that is a poor rip-off off the 2016 version. Some of the 2017 presentation looks good but it fails to provide the expectations leveled at it. Personally I m booking it as another disappointment and failure for CiG. Hindsight only proves that whatever we ve seen 2016 wasnt possible nor existing at the time and CRoberts was openly lying about the state of things. This makes it pretty easy to disregard the 2015 pupil to planet video as bogus as well at the time meaning that CiG only really started to work on the game they promised to deliver end of 2016 or maybe early-/ mid 2017.

The 2017 presentation doesnt give me confidence and only reveals some more ugly truths about CiG and how they do business. This knowledge pretty much kills the whole project for me and even if CiG has started "in earnest" to work on 2017 now I wouldnt give them the chance anymore. Like the last year or two tho watching this dumpster fire from a distance is entertaining and amusing so like with a car crash I continue to watch. I feel compelled to throw in old memories from time to time but really, I m only in to see how this all ends, I m not holding my breath or "hope" for a released game anymore. At least nothing that is worth waiting for. What I saw at the 2017 anniversary stream only underlines that whatever Star Citizen is becoming now is boring and uninteresting to me personally. I wonder if CiG managed to reestablish backer trust with that "vertical slice" or only managed to disillusion a majority of their backers who now realize that Star Citizen is NOT going to be what they think it ll be. Well more then 10 pages to go so I m eagerly looking for more links :D

Like somebody in here already said.....Star Citizen 2017 is a "modern Wing commander" and nothing else pretty much. And I have to say thats pretty lame for that kind of development time, funding and worst of all.....level of hype surrounding this project. Mobile games manage to have more "engaging gameplay" then what I saw on the stream.

Anyway, back to the thread :)

This heated conversation about yesterday SQ 42 presentation it´s still open by some miracle over there in the La-La Land far over the"spectrum-rainbow" https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/dissapointing-sq42-demo-cr-you-lost-the-focus-go-b

This thread, currently the "hottest" in spectrum (whatever that means) is also well worth a read:

"3.Limitation of Liability. You acknowledge and agree that Company and its licensors shall not assume or have any liability for any action by Company or its content providers, other participants, or other licensors with respect to conduct, communication, or content of the Program."

These agreements are meant to be understandable by the end user, and should be clear and easily understood (they never are). The above gives me the impression that if the program doesn't contain everything they have said will be in the game you can't do anything about it? Is this a normal thing in an eula, as it appears to be an exemption to themselves for false marketing.

The limitation of liability clause is standard in any contract of this kind. Our own contracts actually have reciprocal clauses to this effect to benefit the customer as well, but we do business software so of course it's under different licensing arrangements.

The liability clause in my standard contract basically says I can accidentally burn your house down and you'll get 25 quid. I lifted it from a Microsoft license agreement.

You've misread the MS stuff then. It's you that gets the 25 quid. For providing the service of Arson. Whether he wanted it or not........

Now we get it late and not polished, in my opinion waiting an additional one/two months would have been better
Hello! Thats what happend the entire year! Every time a "week" more since what? March? April? And they still dont get it...
Its like they forgot the entire state of 2.0 as it never has happend and how "fast" it got better and playable or "bugfree"...never happend.
At the end of 2018 it will be still a broken tech demo with abyssal FPS.

Its really unbelievable how forgetfull those citizens are, the entire YEAR SC was dead in the water, and at the end of it they throw the whales a rotten abomination in the face before CIG goes stealthmode for the next 2 weeks and then pretend it is all awesome and good again, "faith restored"...i only see the jesus patch haning on its cross barely breathing and knowing that easter will come and he will still hang there dried up barely breathing... but i can gurantee now 3.0 is done, hype up 3.1 forget the sorry guy over there 3.1 is where the real deal starts!.

Just like 2.6->3.0 forget 2.6 we have 3.0 know guys!

So many people saying that SC is not a space sim, and that they hate the ship combat and that is not what they want to do in SC.

This is gift that just keeps on giving. Another comment: "7 fps, I give up!!".

I have this shameful feeling that I keep coming back to this thread to see this sad comedy, like when I was 'following' Oscar Pistorius' trial.
Obviously this isn't drawing any kind of parallel, it is just seeing some people defend the apparently indefensible.

Edit: in other words, CIG increasingly looks like the 'famous' Iraqi information minister.

As 3.0 is released, shall we go trough what's achieved?

1. It is glorious achievement by running bigger AWS instances (which must cost insanely a lot) so people can see a bit faster slideshow than single digit fps on servers having more than bunch of players;
2. haven't heard last word on missions, but mission givers where broken last time we updated on them;
3. Not much performance improvements;
4. Lots of features - even those mentioned in 3.0 release notes - completely missing and cut out due of not working;
5. Cool graphics sometimes, sometimes contrast is even worse;
6. Never ending parade of glitchy avatars;

We are coming to sixth year of development.
