Things to do while Auto Pilot Docks

As funny as it is, it DOES work! - Every time I have used it I come back to a ship docked at a station.
It's scary to watch and quite funny the way it works but it does, you know, as soon as it goes through the toast rack it uses the crab method to dock, lol
I bought one for my LAKON 6 and never had a issue...
Anyway... back on topic
What have you done while the docking computer does it stuff?
  • Loaded the dishwasher
  • Been to the loo
  • Made a coffee
  • Checked the forums
  • Checked the stock market
So what do you do while your computer docks for you?
I love it and it's the perfect opportunity to do other things!

I've not used a docking computer yet (probably never will) but I can image that I'd be sitting there with my eyes tight closed saying "please don't hit anything, please don't hit anything, please don't hit anything...." :eek:

If you've already purchased this from a station (I got mine at iBootis, Chango Dock if I remember right), to activate the docking, just request to dock as usual, throttle down to 0, and it'll take over.

Also note that you can regain control ANYTIME by adjusting (not necessarily increasing the speed) throttle manually. The Docking Computer will release control of it back to you.

Aside from the "song and dance" routine, it is entertaining. Up to the point when you get the Loitering warning countdown in preparation of getting shot.

There needs to be added logic so this does not occur when it is controlled by the computer....

Just tried out the Docking computer yesterday ! actually because I wanted to listen to the "Blue Danube" again ! (Old time here from back in 84)

And I must tell you that i got my heart rate up ! Sorry I don't have a video but this is what happened

1. Lined up my ship nice and good for manual docking

2. Request docking

2. Begin to enjoy the tune.....ahhh what memories !....great I really enjoyed.....for awhile

3. Docking computer goes gracefully through the entrance even avoiding a Sidewinder comming out

4. Now I begin to sweat and heat begins to pump as the docking computer revs my engines a bit and starts to progress to the lading pad in a 90 degree angle hull facing direction of movement (A F**KING bing Anaconda slides by) phew missed him by the hairs of my beard

5. I can see the ship is nearing the pad ! ...but sill haven't turned around and then ! it flips 270 degrees and violently smacks my ship on the pad !

If I could do that myself I would boast and have videos of it......but christ my heart was in the thoat !!! :-O .... I think I will revert to manual docking and landing !......my blood pressure & heart won't stand for this !......I believe some will truly become the first RL victim of Elite Dangerous Docking computer

I have taken a nap while i was getting docked :). I thought ah this might take a while im just gonna close my eyes for a second aaaand i was gone. I woke up because my ship swas derping around and scraping the landing pad and had a minute left to sort it out :p
