The epic fail of Beyond

Most people are over-saturated and demand of the Devs to change that, which is simply not possible. The only ones to blame are themselves, because they just over-played the game... and like with every repetitive thing, it just satisfies less and less over time... That is, what sadly most people don´t get. They should have bought Elite in 3 years or so instead of flooding the forum with negativity.

Exactly.
The constant complaining and bashing is extremely annoying, go play something else if ED isn't that thing to you anymore.
And with this thread it's even worse, the epic fail of beyond, sheesh it's not even out yet and we know zilch of what those updates next year are gonna contain.
I see it when it gets there and then I'll have an opinion, what the OP does is just being negative because of....reasons, a total waist of time.

I love a good critic when based on facts and I'm definitely not blind for ED's discrepancies but imho there's a big difference between being a good critic or just being negative and bash something that's not even here yet.

I completely agree here with the OP. We want more to do in the Elite universe, not just grind. I'm playing the game since January 2016 and it is a massive grind for money and after you make some cash (about 2 billion and buy and upgrade all your ships) you don't have anything to do. I have no intention to kill Thargoids because there is no reward for killing them. So to me, they are the next meaningless grind. PP is not offering me anything of value to participate there. So what to do? Going and killing pirates? No thanks I've killed enough and there is no joy there anymore, and I can't see any change in the system stats. And this is stupid. I'm killing lots of ships in the XYZ system and the system is still a low-security one. By lots, I mean 100+ in 6 hours. So what's the point?

I want to go to an anarchy system and there should and have to be pirates armed to the teeth and they should intercept every single ship and demand money/cargo. I want the Elite NPC's to be elite ones, not just mediocre ones. I want many things in this game but there are none of them. Just another colored skin for the ship every week and other bull for the teenagers who are paying with their weekly allowance given by their mom and dad.

Maybe they need some money to implement all those things, and if that's the case I'll gladly pay for the new season pass. But please FD read what we want from the game, not what you want the game to be because we are giving you the money. If you don't hear us and what we demand, the game will die. Sooner or later it will die, and the servers will be empty.

I think we should at least wait to see what it brings before panning Beyond.

But I also think that we need new things to do (not just new ways to do the same things).

I am hopeful that the forthcoming changes address this.

To say Beyond will be a disaster before it's even with us is not fair. Although, that said, I can understand the pessimism. But fingers, eyes and legs crossed!

I have no intention to kill Thargoids because there is no reward for killing them.

Last I saw the lowest-powered Thargoids gave you millions in combat bonds, and more for the harder ones.

I'm killing lots of ships in the XYZ system and the system is still a low-security one.

That's not what system security means. It's how well the local authorities are equipped to provide security. No matter how many bad guys you shoot, the local authorities will still have x amount of resources for maintaining security.

I want to go to an anarchy system and there should and have to be pirates armed to the teeth and they should intercept every single ship and demand money/cargo.

Keep in mind any uninhabited system is classified as "anarchy," so it won't happen in every anarchy system. It happens to me a lot in occupied anarchy systems.

If you don't hear us and what we demand, the game will die. Sooner or later it will die, and the servers will be empty.

The ENTIRETY of Beyond is coming because of feedback and the devs listening to us. They're doing it because we wanted all of those things.

If it's anything like the gnosis then the squadron will have control over where it goes (but it is still limited in jump range), but no control over docking rights etc. Even if there was control you can get allied to PF in-game without the forum power trippers having any say like they seem to want - which will hopefully incense them further.

As it will be owned by the squadron and I think they can be attacked, then I suspect docking rights may be allowed. But as it doesn't interfere with the BGS I see no issues with it.

I don't understand why FDev doesn't interact here with the "community" any more.
Weird...

Its not weird at all...some people can manage a community and others cant...frontier cant. Nothing weird about it at all really...its actually pretty obvious when ye been around a bit and managed to work it out on yer own ^

Sounds like You need to be playing THE SIMMS. In all your writings, which I assume are gripes, I do not see what really bothers you about ED. So I can't comment one way or another.

But I'll go out on a limb here to guess that you believe that ED Beyond will not provide the interest to players that they say it will. I.e. more of the same window dressing. Well I can't say your right or wrong. However most of us are willing to wait, patiently, to see what comes.

If your stressing over a single game, no matter your expectations, then you have a problem. If you think your comments will change the course of ED, then you have a problem. If, you are Trolling, then your day is a success.

So anyway you look at it, you have a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

So overhauling trade, and the entire code for planetary surface generation, and C&P aren't "core foundations" of the game? Mining and exploration aren't core parts of the game?

Are we playing the same game?

To answer your question...yes we are playing the same game but we define core as very different things obviously.

For instance I don't see "We will have access to much better trade data" as a core change, it's more info relating to a core feature which is very welcome but it doesn't address the economic model and how those trade prices are generated which is core.

Frontier's biggest MISS with ALL of the Multi-player focused features is that they failed to account for the majority of their player base that would prefer NPC crews.

(Just go back and review the comments during the run up to the Multi-Crew feature! NPC crews was a widely popular request, yet FDev chose to totally ignore this widely popular alternative to human player co-op. No wonder the feature was a total FLOP! With only the typically tiny percentage of dedicated PvP players even bothering to try it once!)

Be it for these new Squadrons feature idea or the previous Multi-Crew feature... Many, many, many Elite Dangerous fans play the game as more or less a single player experience and would totally embrace NPC assistance in many areas. Frontier's failure to connect the dots as to where their majority user base wants the game to go, is a big part of the salt problem)

Rather than have to connect with total strangers to use these features, simply giving the majority of the player base access to NPC equivalents would guarantee wide adoption of any cooperative features. Whether they be currently in the game or planned for the future.

Most gamers who have been around for a few years at least, knows that your typical Multi-player smash up with Randoms is a train wreck experience that most would never want to repeat for even a second time!

Not everyone has the time or the energy to form alliances with other human players. So hooking up with "randoms" is the only viable option, and for most that option is a non-starter.

Let me put this here at the last day of the year and I will come back to it at the same day next year to see if I was right or wrong.

I saw the clue in other thread which leads to conclusion as topic says about Beyond. The last update *The Squadrons* was announced with these words:

* Squadrons - Players like working together, w so we’re going to add a new organisation structure for player groups, called Squadrons. You’ll be able to create your own squadron with tools to manage its hierarchy and membership. Squadrons will feature enhanced communication options, making it easier to coordinate your efforts, whether you’re doing completing community goals, supporting your power or manipulating the background simulation. And as a little treat, squadrons will be able to purchase a fleet carrier, giving members a mobile base of operations where they can restock, refuel and respawn.*

If we liken the BGS to a house at the present state of the game, we, the players, are allowed to repaint the fence. We have small brushes and limited choice of colors to do the job. We have already repainted the fence in all colors of the rainbow… countless times and we are fed up with this. We have said thousands of times in forum: repainting the fence is shallow activity, boring. We want to build a dog hut in the corner of backyard. We need a hammer, saw, nails and few boards, that’s all. What we will have instead in Q4 2018? A huge tractor capable of digging holes, but we will be allowed to repaint the fence with it. Can you smell disappointment? CG, PP and BGS manipulation were, are and will be shallow gameplay despite the way they will be carried out. Nobody sane could be personally engaged in any activity which doesn’t benefit him. CG, PP and BGS will always be exploited by players in short term but cannot provide gameplay to keep players busy for years.

A lot hopes are concentrated in Beyond. It was announced as *Beyond will focus on three things: narrative progression, enhancements and development of the core experience and adding new features and content to the game.*

Repainting the fence with different and more powerful tools is not new feature and content. It is the same shallow and boring gameplay we chew for three years and apparently forth is underway. One of my very first comments in this forum was about the ridiculous C&P system back in the middle of 2015. It took two and half years to someone to realize that the game needs more adequate C&P system. I’ve seen a lot of rage quits in forum because of lack of C&P system i.e. the FD has lost its customers. How many inadequate design decisions the game can take and why?

Another my comment at this time was that nobody will take PP seriously, because nobody will put efforts for prosperity, honor and glory of NPC. Unfortunately I was right: PP is dead, will I be right this time?

Make your judgment after Beyond is out.

Not so early.

.......................................................

From your post sir, i just don't think you will be playing/following the game this time next year. You will have moved to some other game to waste the time of it's forum members. Happy New year and 'Beyond'!

True dat.

Sigh .... Love the game, I will ensure I give it time to have all new features come aboard and will be patient and enjoy the game play as it is for that's what Elite is now! I remember a song by G n R ... Patience ... I still don't know why I read these negative posts .. love elite .. !! Keep smiling OP ....
