Elite has a few sweet spots for material hunting. What about CIF?

Now there are dav's and tanker for the materials. There are disribution centers for data. What kind of missions you have to take to get CIF and other firmwares? Or can just get those without missions? Are there places like dav's for them?

I've been seeing CIF's as Material Rewards running Data/Courier Missions at Various Locations...

Best I've found since they Nerfed the Main Scan Point at Dav's...

CIF is available via missions, I picked up 9 today.

It helps if you're allied to the local faction. Scroll through all the available choices that offer rewards, do this everywhere you go.

It's tedious but works.

This. I've gotten missions for data courier and cargo where the pay in credits was irrelevant, because they were handing out four CIFs with them.

Other than mission rewards (which will pay 1 - 4 CIFs and (generally) require you to be Allied for the larger payouts), you can do the Surface Base Data point mini-game.

Yes, along with modular terminals and other coveted goodies.

CIF seems to be one of those mats that I used to hate needing, and now look at as a candidate for dumping some to clear space (do I really need 45 CIF?)
