3025 - definitely Federated Suns - Hanse Davion at his prime
3037- I have a soft spot for the Free Rasalhauge Republic
3050 - the Draconis Combine under Theodore Kurita's (unofficial) leadership barely edges out the Federated Commonwealth
3067 - there is nothing after 3067!!!

3025 is the Third Succession war, and the period that both BTech 5 and Battletech 2018 are set. Classic period.
3050 is around the Clan invasion. Now I'm a fan of Clan Wolf, and the Clans themselves are pretty neat, but that succession war period is really where it's at for BTech. Endless war, precious but decaying lostech...

I think MechCommander 2 had you working for Steiner. I loved that game, so I guess Steiner and the Lyran Commonwealth would be a close second favorite too simply for nostalgia sake.

I agree. The 3025 time period is when Battletech is at its best, balance wise.

I was disappointed that MWO was set in 3050, rather than 3025, and then allowed players to use Clan 'mechs. Of course, my bigger disappointment was when the game dropped repair and refit costs. Game devolved into COD with giant robots, as opposed to being a mercenary in the 3050 Battletech Universe.

Ptolemaic Egypt - interesting mix of ancient egyptian traditions and "modern" hellenic concepts.

Also, they were usually blue bannered or white-blue in Total War iirc. Looks flashy.

What is your Favorite Successor State and why?

Me - Gotta be the Federated Suns. Cool logo, not overly evil (no more than most in the BTech universe), their 'states' are called 'Marches' (and how cool is that?), and they've featured into some good BTech fiction that I've read.

The Fed Suns were too goody goody for my taste. And had too much of the "can do no wrong" syndrome. I liked the general theme, but not for me.
The FWL were too fractious, the Lyrans too dumb and the DC and CC too dark.

Again, I like elements but not the whole.

I'd go for the Taurians myself but given the choice, I'd do Clan.

Hope MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will be a good game, supposed to come out this year. Loved the old MechWarrior games from Activision, MechWarrior 2 and MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries.

Absolutely! I was at total fan of this franchise and the fact that a new iteration of the game is on the horizon has me jazzed. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah, we'll see. The preview vids look promising, but I'm more interested in Battletech the turn based game this year. We'll see.

They might be able to get it right.

Personally, I think MW3 was the best game in the series, but a bit lacking in AI. If MW5 is anywhere near as good, I'll be happy
