Auto UNdock

TL;DR Docking computer sucks! Learn to dock and undock!

I hope you know that the station traffic control is there for ambiance and isn't a working algorithm to control station traffic other than assigning docking pads, issuing fines and terminating loiterers. As for the docking computer, I feel is a cop-out for noobs to learn how to un/dock their ships and requesting an undocking computer isn't going to solve your problem. Also the docking computer (or your proposed undocking computer) still wouldn't maneuver away from other oncoming ships. I would suggest learning to dock and undock to better avoid collisions with other ships.

As a Federal Corvette pilot, I know it's hard to fit larger ships through the docking slot without banging into someone or something every-now-and-then but a docking computer would make that transition through the slot uncontrollable, if not stressful, since the computer doesn't account for station traffic and you're completely at the mercy of Hal.

yeah it's pretty clear you didn't read the post at all and you sounded like a complete idiot...

good jorb champ! here's your useless participation trophy badge for contributing nothing of value.

Using the scanner's centering icon and "select target ahead" for checking the mailslot makes this procedure very easy, even in the largest of ships.
The fines are minor as well.

Jorb?! And capitalize in the proper places or were you just so excited to insult someone you forgot to but I'm the idiot....

The TLDR was directed at my comment if someone wanted a layman's explanation before reading "a lot of my letters" "TL;DR Docking computer sucks! Learn to dock and undock!". I read your post completely and fully understand what you were saying but didn't resort to insults of someone's intelligence in which I won't. As I stated, you were right in the docking computer mechanics or are you just a sore-winner? And take the training wheels off your ship, kid, and learn to dock and undock your ship! (Edit) When you do you'll find 90% of your problems will go away.

it rotates you with the station when you auto dock as well, so... that's not it

I presume that on the way in it's hard to line up with the slot due to the rotation. And on the way out it's easy cos there isn't any. That might be a reason for not needing a dc on the way out. I don't know as I've always found both to be extremely easy and don't really notice any rotation.

You know what would be really good? A double slot system, 1 for going in, 1 for going out, there is obviously a line of code somewhere telling the universe to bombard you with traffic as you enter and exit to make the universe feel "more alive"... another option could be some kind of queueing system that offers you a time slot for entering and exiting the slot, you'd think the developers would know how to sort out a queue wouldn't you? They're british xD

The current system is fine and works for 1,000s of players, every day. No matter what changes could be made to 'improve' it, someone would have issues with it. Such people would have issues and demand changes to the act of breathing out; if they thought there could be an easier way.

Auto undock could be fine with the big sized ships ( anaconda, type 10, federal seems more small than those 2 ). For other leave a coriolis is pretty easy ( for me )

What exactly is the problem you have with leaving stations?

I don't have any problems with leaving stations. NPCs sometimes feel inconsolable that I'm leaving already and insist on giving me hugs, taking selfies with me and so on, but I do understand their lives must be pretty empty without me around.

"jorb" is an internet pop culture reference you are apparently unfamiliar with. i also don't give a shiznit about capitalization in a casual setting. FYI - i also double space after a period and use the oxford comma.

you can't claim any moral high ground about insults when the gist of your entire TL;DR post is summed up with L2P.

you clearly have no clue what you're talking about. it's not the docking computer, it's THE AI FOR EVERY OTHER SHIP that falls into line when auto dock is active, but not when you're exiting a station. i'm well aware and capable of docking and undocking and doing so damage free. saying that 90% of my problems will go away shows that you have no clue what the original post was about at all and it really shows.

you win. double slot would be more logical. hell, grocery stores have a separate entrance and an exit door. even restaurants have a specific entrance and exit to a high traffic kitchen.

HAH!! yeah, that's my problem also. they're so PUSHY about it too!
