Only if we are able to destroy your base and claim your land for our own.
Dream killed in the egg
Only if we are able to destroy your base and claim your land for our own.
Erm, why would anyone want to land at your station for a fee? Why not land at their own for free?
I want my own land to settle, on moon or planet, to build my own landing pad and hangar for my ships where I can store fuel, hardware and cargo.
I want to build something of my own ! I am tired of those monotonous missions that change almost nothing except to get more credits,
Well it’s probably not going to happen, just a dream… but I had to say it !

Without reading through, Im gonna make a few predictions based on about a score of critics who will cry frlm the heavens about this.
Someone always mentions minecraft...its the basic strawman considering nobody but them mentions minecraft.
Someone always mentions eve and how anyone supporting such things should go play eve.
There will be at some point always at least one who will write an essay about how it directly affects their bgs.
Some will point out it wouldnt be fun or useful to them, so it wont be useful to anyone based on how useful it is to them.
The same 20/25 critics...every single time a thread like this appears, using the same regurgitated arguments.
So, much as Id love to see such a thing, I also know how the last several pages went without looking at them ^
Off the top of my head...
Maybe your station is thousands of light years away?
Maybe Cmdrs could setup their own Beagle Highway, or Sag Highway, or Crab Nebula Highway .. each Cmdr base acting as a type of "layover" - with repairs and/or refuelling. Repairs and refuel would need to be regularly restocked and maintained by the base Cmdr and his crew (crew being Cmdr's who are given permission to drop fuel and repair equipment at the base to keep it active).
Maybe you need a specific material and you know of a Cmdr base that sells those materials close by? Or if not, perhaps there's a website that lists all the Cmdr bases and what they are selling and where.
How dare you, this sounds like gameplay! This is not what Elite is about! Anathema!![]()

You're not allowed to have it because a vocal minority of players inflicted with erotophobia are afraid you'll draw willies on the planets.
Or draw willies on it with beam lasers.
Sorry, Recurring theme with player owned anything is genitalia. I can't break a 4 year tradition.
Seconded. A lot of that could be done with player owned capital ships. The Fleet Carriers could have such customization as mobile bases.
Check this thread: Megaships are the answer to end-game content AND player-owned bases
There might be arguments against ever introducing this kind of content but that's not really one of them.
I'm not advocating for it and it's not something that I ever had any expectation of being included in the game but if it were present, I would definitely make use of it. Obviously as the game stands today it would be a load of work for really no additional benefit because there is very little playable content on planet surfaces, other than shooting rocks, scanning bases and finding endless RNG based spawns of the same piles of cargo.
However if planetary exploration is ever expanded to something more than the bare bones content we have today then yes, I'd personally quite like to be able to get back from a long voyage and spend a bit of time exploring my immediate environment. I'd also like to be able to base my ships and store my stuff somewhere of my own rather than in generic Ocellus Starport #24,698. Maybe find a nice spot at the bottom of a cliff or the head of a canyon on a funky little moon a hundred light years outside the bubble. It doesn't have to be about 'playing house', although frankly even if it was the incredulity of your post is hardly merited since it basically says 'people might want to do something that I don't? LOL what a bunch of idiots!!!'
I can't see it ever happening though, simply because the game just doesn't do persistence to that degree.
Why would I want my own land? I mean, there are three Earth Like Worlds with my name on them!

Err no...it seems like the EXACT OPPOSITE of Gameplay...you're taking away the remote areas of the Galaxy that players can investigate slowly and carefully...knowing they're thousands of light years from home...and making it just like the bubble...
You'd essentially be DESTROYING exploring wouldn't you?
