Fill it with microtransaction trash.
In fact monetization might be a good reason for Fdev to do this. Much like multicrew, which is mostly a useless function but provided a great platform for microtransactions.
A base built on a planet somewhere could open an entire universe of vanity nonsense for people to blow money on.
Every friday something new, tactical paint pack kitchenware and Xihe Biomorphic Companions... Once a year maybe a Chrome fireplace, Gold Winchester wingback and smoking jacket.
Ah good old ED forum "you want the game to play by itself" hyperbole... never gets old![]()
Why Hyperbole...wanting your base to generate Materials for you whilst you're away is literally the DEFINITION of "the game playing itself" isn't it?
Is it a bad thing or a good thing?

If those materials are used to upgrade and expand the settlement I don't see a problem.
By the way, it's Not fun gameplay to force players to grind for materials.
Why would you as a pilot go through the trouble of building and maintaining an outpost though.
Not only is it lonely, its dangerous too.
I'd rather have a penthouse apartment in one of those inverted skyscrapers of an Coriolis station. Nice, comfortable 1g, amazing view and access to goods and services.
Hello, please respond, is it possible to add to the game the possibility of building your own planetary station. Small in person or more for the clans. It would not be bad if the site was not dug except for the owner or if someone finds it. After all, you can store ships and accumulated resources there.
At you basically all is I mean stations on a planet them it is possible to sell separately a landing pad, solar batteries and td.
After buying the player flies to the planet, puts a beacon that has coordinates. Then sends a request for construction. I certainly do not know how in the game on the planets the stations that are now located (npc), but having the data of the star system, the planet and the coordinates on it, I hope to add stations, at least once a month, in a mini patch.
In the game a huge all-in-one and have my own personal angle I think many would agree. Personally, I would buy as an addition to the game.
All the best to you and successful creation of the game.

By the way, it's Not fun gameplay to force players to actively grind for materials.
Let players deploy Automated Mining Extractors on a planet. Then come back in a day to collect materials is more fun.
