No Krait in Beyond Chapter One Update

Because the Krait isn't mentioned yet for the Beyond Q1 beta it doesn't mean it won't be part of the whole Q1 update.
I bet the Q1 update is much more then what's announced in the beta post.

I would say they should fix trading and make it a worth while thing again and then release the Panther as part of the roll out.

Nothing would get traders more stoked then being able to properly trade in a shiny 2000 tonne trader.

What needs fixing in trading apart from the tools which are going to get updated in the Q1 update?

There should be contracts for shipping massive quantities via missions - then I would see role for Panther Clipper. Other than that, even smaller ships like T-9 and T-10 gets hardly utilized (they ship way less cargo than they actually could).

So that's something completely new and would require lot of work...not 100% sure that's priority right now.

Even with current prices 2k tons would fetch a ton of money trading with the current system. Trading itself seems to be ok its just that you need to use EDDB.io in order to do it effectively? Now they are going to fix that with the new market data features?

However, if you are talking about haulage missions, then yeah, they need to make big changes to haulage missions before a larger trade ship can take advantage. However, in the Q1 update they did say they are changing mission rewards so here’s hoping? I’d love to do 700t haulage missions in my Cutter that’s for sure.

Is it that much work to tweak haulage missions to include larger amounts of cargo? I don’t see why that would be a lot of development effort. They did say mission rewards are being looked at for Q1 so let’s hope we get monster haulage missions.

Making trading relevant and maybe linking it to some sort of deeper economy.

Trading is no longer the main way to make the big bucks in the game. It should be because, it in turn allows piracy, which in turn promotes bounty hunting.
If trading was the big thing again, you would have trade routes, trade wings, escort opportunities.

Lots of FDEV game play opportunity around that and of course the emergent content that comes from a little structure.

Currently the only place to find traders to pirate is at a CG.

The old days, you had a number of trade routes.

This split up all the pirates, bounty hunters and gank wings as well.

I completely agree that the economy needs looking at.

Well they did add the repairing station mechanic which requires a crazy amount of resources from traders. Maybe too many but still it's a thing.

:( for the lack of Krait.

If the Panther Clipper has to be too big to fit in the mail slot...is there a chance they'll just make it the Fleet Carrier for Squadrons?

Actually, if you look carefully. In some of the Crew Bios, they mention that they have had time flying on a Panther Clipper. Does that make it Elite: Dangerous Cannon?

;-)
Yeah, and some of them claim to have worked on space dredgers. I take most crew bios claims with a large pinch of salt

Yep, which is a CG isn't it?

CG's are the current PVP hotbeds. Not a negative thing in some ways but you would have to be a very brave T9 to make that run with a large cargo carry in Open vs the potential rewards.

Nope, not a CG. New mechanic. These don't expire until the gargantuan amount of resources get delivered. Until then those stations in a repair state stay crippled.

A few years ago, FDEV folk referred the Panther Clipper as "Coriomax" ship, so it should fit in the docking slit, but just barely.

Im not going to hold my breath over the panther clipper, but if it does come I suspect we would need a new way to dock the ship at a station, maybe on the outside of the station.

Also what would be the point in having one. I would need a good reason to save up to get one as I see no reason to get any of the bigger ships at the moment.

What is the point of all of the fighter craft we have in Elite?
What is the point of Ford making a New Transit van when we can buy a Toyota SUV?... the fact I see here is that it's a choice
and if it were to carry 1500 tons of cargo it could still fit through the letterbox, think shoebox to the T9's Pizza box... (yes, I know a shoebox/Pizza box won't fit through a real letterbox)

As for the economics of allowing players who already have more money than they know what to do with getting one and filling it to the brim with Palladium... well that's down to FD to sort out, the economy sucks and needs to be addressed... perhaps that's why we don't have it yet...

But please don't tell FD we don't need it, that's as bad as telling FD they don't need to give us 'X' feature cos we'll happily pay for it!

Hey, i was just giving my opinion. I don't see the need for it. But if others want it, that's fine by me. The only time I would get a big ship is when we get proper NPC crew so I can feel like a captain of a ship.

Also I can fit a fighter in my Keelback or my FGS.
