I know, right? I didn't even realize those existed. I want one!

When you see them, they look really cool and a good idea, yes? Then, when you get one, it becomes obvious what a daft idea they are. USB cannot provide enough power to keep a cup of coffee hot. :) I would advise not to buy one... You can normally obtain them for free, which is about as much as they are worth. You'll be giving it away again shortly after getting one.

And while I'm here...

So the monitor swivels around on the arm to face you??

Nope. I use the headset on the chair. :) The monitor is only to start the game - the machine is also attached to the projector upstairs for playing other games (which doesn't actually happen from the computer anymore) and watching films.

On that note,

there have been some updates to my cockpit;

1. The first portion of the upper canopy is completed! (No electronics on it yet.) It is hinged in a couple places to allow access to the computer which is behind the center monitor.
2. The videos and video players were optimized to use much less CPU power. Now, there is virtually no difference in playing ED with the videos on or off.
3. I was able to recognize game events through the Commander's Journal. I use AutoHotKey (AHK) for this. In addition, AHK also is able to control lights and such during game events. Even videos that are playing!
4. Was able to trick Roccat Tablets to "turn off" and "turn on" by command.
5. Yea, I know, the consoles are still wood-looking. Good eye! That may be the next thing to fix.
6. The back wall is still viewable. That is on the agenda too, but quite a bit later.

A HMD is the ultimate virtual reality device. What I have is reality. !!! [smile]

That's just wrong.

You're my hero!... have some rep! [up]

Here's my meager setup...
5Vliurk.jpg

i7-6700 3.4ghz
16gb DDR4
GTX 970 4gb
24" ASUS 1080p
Dual sticks... right, CH Combatstick... left, CH Flightstick Pro

I can do pretty much anything with the sticks, navigate menus, etc.

I'll use the mouse in the station menus and galaxy/system maps and I only really use the keyboard to type in a system name.

It gets me by. ;)
