Any official source for the Panther ? I never heard FD saying it was on the way.

They didn't. But I won't be hugely surprised if they will decide add it to Q4.

Ships: The Panther LX : We expect the new Panther LX model heavy cargo clipper – a trading workhorse - to remain as popular in Elite: Dangerous as its predecessors were in previous games. A render of the model’s blockout mesh was posted in a previous newsletter to show the scale of ships in the game. Here we have the paint-over of that mesh, which is acting as guidance for the modellers who are creating the ship.

So, according to the newsletter, Frontier's modelers were actively working on the Panther Clipper back in 2013.

Word is they just can't find a role for it.

Based on no evidence in particular, I think we'll only see the Panther if/when it coincides with a balance pass on trading ships in general: shortening the T7 landing gear to make it a medium ship, pushing the T9 close to or beyond the Cutter in terms of cargo capacity, then adding the Panther with a 1000T+ capacity, turret-positioned hardpoints for days, and a turn radius a little tighter than a lunar orbit. It's gonna make the T10 look like a flyweight boxer, I guarantee it.
