Yes. As long as you don't spend too long with your ship in the trespass zone, there is no hostile reaction to these base scans. As mentioned, Gagnan Reach was hostile to me for some reason, I don't know if it will be to you, worth a look-see I guess.

So, I managed to find one datapoint BEHIND Bakewell Laboratory. Scanned it just fine. But I don't see any data coming across. How do i know what i got? I got a timer counting down to reset and didn't notice any other data earned.
EDIT: Nevermind. I see now. You have to scan all 4 before the timer runs out. Each ones adds time.

That's it, did you find them all? They're all findable from the perimeter except one which is up on a ramp, it's easy to get around in time.
The route I take is from that one you found behind, I go around to the left side, there's one on that side, near the front, you can just go to turret, target it and scan it, then continue driving around to the right in front of a ramp, then look to the right you should see the next one tucked in the front side of the base. When you scan that one, look left and you see an alley which is a dead end. What I do is go that way and use my thrusters to jump up to the platform, as the last datapoint is directly ahead like that.

Yep. Ended up with CIFs. So...worked out pretty well. Skimmers ignored me just as you said. Its actually pretty fun.
You are a very lucky feller. CIF is the hardest to get from this activity. hence the rating of 0.6 per base. Usually one gets Modified Embedded firmware and a bunch of other less useful ones, including SLF.
So far the most annoying thing are the bases that are down in craters. There is nowhere to land. Landed way down the hill.
Is there a system type that is better for finding scan missions?

So far I have made it thru Nebtete on the list and no SLFs.
Hmm, ok, maybe rarer than I thought from that then. I'll be back with a better idea for slf specifically in a bit. I think I remember something but I'll check it first this time for effectiveness.

Yay! I thought so... the satellites around certain installations give SLF. Here's a screenie. The beauty of this is that you can log in and out as many times as you want and keep scanning the pair of satellites until you have all the low level data you need.
This is the Capital Ship dock found alongside Evans Port in Parutis. There are other installations with satellites, but this one is in the heart of the bubble.
Scan both satellites, log out, log back in again (same mode, no need to switch), scan again, repeat as many times as desired.

The content will get better, I'm planning on doing a decent amount of pvp soon. By the way, there is absolutely no need to shoot that turret to complete the mission, that was simply because I NEVER let ANYONE get away with shooting at me.

I get it. I seem to have had bad luck. The two I did that were hostile not only had the skimmers, but had federal security flying above them.
