I've been CMDR Cosmic Spacehead since I joined. But I don't like that name anymore, and wanted to use a more normal sounded name, that isn't my own.

So I've been trying to figure out a new one I can use in ED, and other games.

But I'm utterly useless at thinking of new names, so I tend to lean on those silly name generator tables, like the warewolf name. (Moon Moon. Lol).

Stumbled upon a gang name one, or something that uses your street address and pet's name. Lol

My current one isn't very good. Mainly because my cat is a girl. Called Toobey. (Not Toby. Lol)

But! My parents dog is called Zak. And we used to live in a tiny hamlet thingie called Whitecross.

So Zak Whitecross. Lol
Has a nice ring to it.

What other name generators are about?

Bit of advice CMDR, don't EVER use name genrators or quizzes or anything else like that online that asks you for information like your pet's name, your street address, mother's maiden name, etc.

A lot of the time they're trying to build up a profile of you so that they can commit identity theft on your accounts to steal your money or sell your data. Not good.

As for names themselves, I'm afraid I have no advice. I tried to come up with a new username myself recently as I have different ones for each game/platform and wanted to get everything consolidated. Somehow I ended up picking a name off a list of ancient Aztec rulers :p

Good choice.

I was CMDR Gunner Bill until nearly a year ago when it just began to grate a bit. Particularly I think when I started to become more immersed in the game. I switched to a more normal name (but not too normal!) and have not regretted it.

GunnerBill is too much FPS gamertag for a game like ED (IMO).

You can always change it back after a while.

Look at names from other countries, mythology, classical Greece and Rome etc. etc.

You could set it just as a surname or any single name so that the mission boards and other announcements make more sense.

My werewolf name using Cosmic Spacehead is Ravenous Rain. Lol

So much better. It's also my Google gamer name. Lol

My real name comes out as ... Grey Howler :O

HAL 9000 (nine-thousand) wold come out as Savage Wolf. Which is self explanatory, at least?

Heh, I'm glad you all like my name.

I might just change it so it's actually "Cosmic Spacehead"... Unless it is already. I can't remember.

Perhaps I should actually log in first. Lol


My girlfriend's name comes up as Magic Fire. Lol

I would like to be Cmdr Holden McGroyne, but Certacito was all I could think of when I started playing this game. It's an amalgamation of Certa (swift) and Cito (sure) which is my old Corps motto "Swift and sure". Wish I could change it in game and retain my current progress, I can't go through all that Imp and Fed grind again, please don't make me do it...... :(
