Beyond 3.0 - C&P and Wing missions

On the livestream ....

Ed... someone should take him aside and show him how to fly.. dock, accept missions.. and most importantly

SHOW US THE ATR video... but no... no, no, noooooooo....

This is what happens when you let the apes loose with technology!

Epic fail by Ed... followed by at least 3 loops of shame, then he went to the wrong planet for the wing mission...

Please, please give the man a cookie, some milk and a slap in the face with 10 tons of fish!

Other than all of the above, GREAT SHOW!

Fly safe and laugh at Ed

Multi-trip haulage missions that not even a Cutter can do in one trip (hopefully with rewards to match).

[up]

Yes! Yes! YESS!!!!!! YEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited that even in solo where I play there will be missions that will scale to my big beautiful trading Cutter. Combine this with the rewards selection system and this is a game changer for the way I play the game. To say I am excited would be a gross understatement! The fact that those who prefer to play multi-player can do these together is also just awesome!

Frontier, if you have finally given us missions that take advantage of the bigger ships, even in solo, I hope you are prepared to deal with crazy and epic levels of nerd joy and excitement! +570 Octodecillion!

Ah, so only applies to PvP then? That is a shame. I had hopes that Commanders would carry a "stain" with them for crimes committed in that jurisdiction.....even outside of hot ships.

No, Ed was killing NPC police ships during the livestream to show the notoriety level rising.

I don't want "special" separate content for wings. I want to be able to share ALL the regular content with my wing. This is going about it backwards. Every existing mission should be sharable and completable by a wing. I'm so sick of this. Every new feature is boxed off from every other part of the game so that nothing can touch anything else.

edit: and my favorite quote from the stream:
“This is the first set of wing missions. If they work and they work well and people like them, then there’s an argument for doing more.”

So it's PowerPlay, CQC, and Multicrew, again.

This right here

I have to agree - honestly, saying "If they work and they work well and people like them, then there’s an argument for doing more" feels so counter-productive, considering they know the game has limitations with connection problems, and yet have to resolve some of those gremlins.

Multi-crew wasn't a massive success because of two things:

1) They applied a ridiculous "rank" system that reduced anything earned, while at the same time allowing wings to acrew the full bounty - each. Absolutely horrifying that they changed it because of "feedback". But hey, maybe Frontier needed an excuse to avoid multicrew in the future, because they haven't done anything to reverse what they did - which is a huge shame.

2) Connection problems - don't need to say anymore.*

3) Turrets REALLY needed to be buffed by 30%/50% damage IF used by a crewman - otherwise, what's the point? Why should players have to struggle with terrible DPS in any ship and with turrets that turn like 18th century cogs? Where is the incentive to man the guns instead of flying the 2nd fighter?

*Some ISPs, like Sky (the one I use), don't actually use IPv6 yet - along with many other ISPs - yet they implimented it anyway, presumably, to future proof it - but if even the big ISPs haven't switched on their own IPv6 tech, how do they expect connections to work correctly when they try to use IPv6 in the game???? Just rely on Turn all the time????

It's because of those problems, mainly 1) for me, that just reduced the reward factor by a ridiculous margin. Yes, it is fun to play, it would be nice if they expanded on it, but reversing the silly decision by the community to gate everyone's bounties behind ranks in multicrew is just one way to turn people off using it.

However, I like the new wing missions and how they look - but them saying that REALLY did not settle my nerves.

I dunno, what they demoed looked pretty awesome. But yeah merging the two over time makes sense as well. But still, this is a HUGE step forward even if they don’t get it perfect on the first try.

Well that's a great start then. I'd like to see it apply to all crimes though, not just murder.

Or better yet, different types of notoriety for different types of crime.

This guy takes missions and steals the cargo (though I think you can't do that anymore because it was the only way FDev could think of to stop people from making money on it).
That guy kills people
That guy is a known pirate

etc

And how should that work? None of the current missions are compatible to be completed in a wing.
It makes absolutely no sense to transport 50 tons of Palladium with a wing of 2 Cutters and 2 Type-10.

The only thing they could do (and maybe will do in the future) is replace all the old missions with the new wing-compatible ones.
But for testing, it's better ATM they stay as separate missions.

Says who? The people paying for it to be moved don't care how many people split up the load and/or payment.

If you don't allow yourself to be killed via combat logging your rebuy cost just increases. This means when you finally will die, you will face a huge rebuy.

No idea what this will entail but my first thought is that if I allow, say, my Asp to be destroyed then the rebuy will be around Cr2m.
If I do this 20 times then it will have cost me Cr40m.
For "notoriety" to work punitively and as a deterrent would require that the rebuy for somebody who CLed 20 times would be more than the value of their ship - thus making it prudent to simply reject the rebuy in favour of a Sidey.

I hope they've thought this through properly. [where is it]

I’m personally more interested in wing assasination missions etc.
Is there also any word on a fix for legit activities (like pirate hunting) incurring bounties because of settlement raids for location data and such?

Hi there,

We actually made mission cargo more permissive to stealing, not less. Recently we made it so you could sell mission cargo without even abandoning the mission.

You just can't sell mission cargo back to the same market you got it from, which makes sense.

Thanks,
Dom

I never tried it so wasn't clear, thanks for the info!

So yes, that would be another type of possible notoriety :D

They still would have to pay off their bounty at some point though. So, if they managed to rake in so many bounties that their ship cost rebuy would be stupidly high, they probably sould have about a billion or so waiting in bounties that would have to be paid when they get ‘unlucky’ :D
