Tonights Livestream - Knocked it Out of the Park!

I was so surprised by the trade data. I was either thinking it wasn't going to be significant or they were going to copy INARA and say "Hey you make the most money at x and y." But instead we have a system that rewards exploration. A system that allows us as players to find good trade routes. Which is what was missing for me as trading. INARA is for grinders and i wasn't going to pull out a calculator/excel.

However my favorite have to be the Planets. I really missed taking screenshots of them.

Also happy to see the tech broker is material based over credit based. This gives the rich players progression again.

what would be nice is to link the Wing Mission to the Mega ship / installations.

So a mission would be to steal data from a Mega Ship / Pirate station etc.

:)

Agreed, lots of really cool stuff.

But we really really need to do something about the ever-increasing number of limpet controllers. Can we just make a generic "limpet controller" that can program any limpet? Having it would unlock them all in fire groups and you pick whichever you need. Size controls how many you can have out at once, grade determines quality / range / lifetime for the limpets where that matters.

Yes ... they all take up valuable module space ... and will be competing !

Lots of interesting stuff, not sure about actual engaging content though (of this stream):
- tech broker = drop off rare mats (essentially another layer of money, which isn't credits to stop billionaires buying it all outright)
- Chieftain = very combat focused, not enough internals to challenge the Python for multirole, and going to make a poor Fuel Rat ship (5 non-military internals was it?)
- trading = nice. How will it fare vs EDDB etc
- terrain = nice. But only 2/3 types of planets, not all yet? It was hyped as a complete stellar object overhaul...
- more limpet types = really? Please give us multi-limpet controllers already

I'm looking forwards to the beta and next stream, just hoping for more engagement.

No, it was specifically to address the beige planets, we knew it would be limited.

It was an amazing stream! A lot of great improvements coming our way, and I'm super excited to be honest. The Chieftain is pretty much one of the prettiest ships I've ever seen (and its sounds............I mean come on, they're amazing). I only have one question thats outstanding: Does the commodity trading system consider systems you've visited previously? I'm hoping that legacy exploration and trading carries over into this season's improvements.

I suspect that will be of more value to aspiring pirates in smaller ships, who may not want interaction with human players, yet seek the thrill of pilfering stuff. Maybe ideal for a Cobra III ?

Not sure I get it... Click click click... Then deploy as many limpets as you can to grab as much as you can before jumping away. Only then to have a bounty to pay off too?

Just hits me as simplistic gameplay with no real variety/skill, and obvious limitation in income + downsides?

Anyway, guess we'll see...

ps: An I wonder if two CMDRs can completely sidestep this by one opening the hatch and flying away, leaving someone else simply to pick the stuff up?

Or better, shoot the CMDRs who gained the bounty and pilfer the stuff from the open hatch :)

The Chieftain would have looked so much better with a spoiler [mad]

Was a good watch, looking forward to the beta.
Would have liked more planets and less Chieftain.
The Galaxy map/trade tools looks great.

But Who at FD has a limpet fetish? Another type of controller. Come on, you're having a laugh!

I'm still rewatching, so just another thing...META ALLOY HULL REINFORCEMENT in the Tech Broker??

3.0 : For the Traders.

As a Xbox player, I hope that interface is easy to on a controller compared to mouse/keyboard, but still, FD went further than I expected with use of trade data.

I use an Xbox One Elite Controller on my PC for ED, so I'll let you know. :)

Granted, I also have the Chatpad installed so I can access all my keyboard bindings, but you should soon be able to do the same when your Xbox Keyboard comes out. I expect that this will open up the hooks for using the XB1 Querty Chatpad attached to your controller instead of a standard keyboard. (MUCH better!)

As far as the topic of the thread.

REALLY HAPPY for Frontier and Co.!

They deserve some praise for a change after one of these streams!

Can't wait to watch the rerun on YouTube later this evening. :)

If you can do this against a Squadrons Carrier, things could get very interesting.

Agreed alot of nice features...

Need to see what the Tech Broker really offers. ie: Is it just The Engineers pt2, or some thought out assets?

Also need to see if that Trending Trading view in the galaxy is actually useful or not. I fear it will only show a selected systems "trends", and you won't simply be able to browse the bubble to see where CMDRs are current more active.

But I would say while the megaship gameplay does indeed "look" cool, am I the only one scratching my head thinking, who will bother? eg: Opening a cargo hold (via click click click) to get a few tons of cargo in 20-30 seconds? You'd do that over and over why?

All these new interactions could be tied into missions and other activities. Also why would you do it over an over, there are other things you can do in between, like other types of missions, using the SRV. It's another thing we can do, which will hopefully get tied into missions, making missions more varied and interactive, possibly wing missions would be good which is exactly what you where asking for with different ships doing different roles working together.

I liked the Megaship interactions as it gives you a reason to go there beyond sightseeing, it deked to infer with the hackable points that other things than just cargo could be obtained, maybe another location for rare data mats?

Chieftain looks like a good step up from Vulture for pew pew PvE experience.

Looking forward to next Thursday to check out all the bits and bobs!

I really hope theres a little more on offer than cargo we saw in tonights stream.sounded like they are planning these as pirate wing missions, the rewards really should be quite substantial. Providing materials for a tech broker perhaps?

The trending data was a purchase for 24hrs of data access, I think we will have to wait for the beta to see if its going to be of real use to pirates.
