Sagittarius-Carina Mission - Route and camps

It officially finished on Aug 1st this year but some commanders are still going around the route.
Yes, some are, mainly those of us still participating in the thread :D

Would be great if EDSM could make the mission open ended like it is here on the forums.

Wishblend, you can check back a few pages, Corbin removed the end date.

It seems as if "Canelé Plateau" at Gibb´s Bridge, SYRALIA JT-V B7-0, no longer exists.

The coordinates given are very uneaven and there seems to be a mountain there now:

I was able to land nearby eventually at coordinates 5°S 42'5" 100°W 42'41" (forgot to screenshot sorry - this is from the log file)

Relatively nearby there is a smaller mountain/plateau that I was able to put Katie down into a small hollow on:

Coordinates where I was able to land were -4.9562,-105.7602

There may be somewhere better that smaller ships could get down on.

Just for reassurance Quing Long Caverns, at CPD-65 2513 in NGC 5315 is still spectacular

I´ve had to restore an earlier version of our mission sheet, so any changes made in the last 48 hours has been undone.

The participants sheet is NOT made to be sorted, since this messes up the hidden mechanics of the sheet.

I have instead inserted a filter so the participants sheet now only shows CMDRs who have been active within the last 6 months.

Looks like the same problem as on some other camps - changes to planet generation caused some to change completely.

When I visited camp 11 I found that the terrain had shifted and the original landing site was no where to be found. *shrug* guess we will just have to accept this even though it does break continuity and immersion to some degree. I hope to set down at Ultima Centauri tonight - I really hope Mount Pelion is still there, but I fear it will have changed as well.

Yes, annoying.

I didn't do very well going direct to Jaques, I've not made it very far. I'm worried I may never get there!

I've just made it past Ultima Centauri, so there's that. In the previous camps it would take me a few jumps before I could get away from discovered systems, now it's like one jump. I guess we're at the point where most of the people who were going to turn back turned back.

When I get back and sell my data I'll post a list of all the ELW's and ammonia worlds and other systems of interest that I found.

Quite the full system. I did have to trim back on my fuel a bit to reach it. After poking around in the map a bit to choose a route, the longest jump was a manual plot of 54ly, so no jumponium needed.

Seasons greetings from Eock Prau

Happy holidays everyone!

I reached the Eock Prau nebula tonight, and Ill be spending some time basking in the green, red and white colors here at Camp 8.
Just to underline it... this is the first nebula I visit since I left the Magnus nebula as part of Distant Worlds, more than 20 months ago. Since that time I have been surveying the outer rim, so this is a most welcome change of scenery from the usual black void :)

May your days be merry and bright :D

Wrapping up the Sag-Car Mission within the month...

Happy new year everyone :)

All good things must come to an end, and the Sag-Car Mission will be running until the end of January before being wrapped up and declared completed.

We have been surveying the spiral arm for more than 30 months in a row - starting even before Horizons was announced

Activity has been steady, though also steadily declining, and now we are down to very few people. Time to wrap it up :).

The main objective has been achieved many times over - to have fun and sharing travels and discoveries with other explorers. More than 300 POIs has been logged and 70 of these forwarded to the Galactic Mapping Project and included there. We might also have learned a bit more about the structure of the outer Spiral Arm...

If you have any POIs to add to our spreadsheet, now is the time.

Thanks you again for supporting and taking part in this crazy semi-circumgalactic-survey-operation ;)

Not for you maybe, but my ship needs supercharging to jump that far!

Okay, this time I give in. Mission over :(

I'll do my best to get to Jaques by the end of January and I'll consider that my achievement. I'll also try and submit all the my POI suggestions too - the problem is, when I'm on the computer which has my POI log, I just want to play the game!

Sag-Car event: The Final Kylie

The following transmission was sent via secure channels to former as well as active participants in the Sagittarius-Carina Mission:

Greetings fellow explorers and participants on the Sagittarius-Carina Mission

You are hereby invited to "The Final Kylie", the unofficial Sagittarius-Carina homecomming party and closing ceremony.
This event will be held on saturday jan 27th, starting at 18 IGT (in-game-time) and lasting for one to two hours depending on our mood :)

The Sag-Car expedition was launched with the departure of 35 ships from Sol on August 1st 3301. Since that merry time, more than 30 months ago, the number of participants has reached as high as 175. But many of our participants have joined at different times and most of us have travelled large parts of the route on our own.

I would love to end this community project the same way it was started - travelling together with a group of fellow explorers for the last 1000 LY towards the final camp: Waypoint 36 - The Institute of Galactic Exploration and Research in the HIP 72043 system.

For me personally this will be the first time in more than two years I return to the Bubble, and I can think of no better way to return than in the company of friends and comrades :)

The gathering point for this final leg of the mission will be
- System: Mammon
- Orbital body: Mammon 3a
- Coordinates: -32,11 / 116,39
- Visual Landing Guide

From here we will launch at 18.00 IGT.

Our destination will be
- System: HIP 72043
- Station: Kippax Ring

Once we are there, we will have a chance for some group photos outside the station and the beautifull ELW it orbits. Feel free to bring fireworks (flares).

Hoping to gather as many of us as possible - though I realize that we are probably spread thin across the galaxy these days.

In any case - thank you for taking part in the Sagittarius-Carina Mission :D

When I make it to Colonia and sell my data I will post the locations of all of the ELW's and Ammonia worlds that I have found so far as well. It's gonna be another month or two but I will get there.
