New engineers - LOVE IT

Yep, the new system looks great!
I think that a grind to god rolls will take just as long as before (so I expect min-maxers to set the forums on fire any moment now), but for average player like me, it means I can experiment and get better results than before much faster.

Love it.

I'm not seeing this point. The only 'god roll' is 100% of level...which should only take a few rolls extra to get...even if it's 10-15 rolls to get 100% (next levels can be accessed long before 100% btw) your rolls can never cause you to fall backwards.

Totally agree dude! I'm literally euphoric right now!

Today is a victory for the normal players.

I like the new system, but from what we've been shown so far, grandfathering is going to be a major problem without more adjustments.

From the few grades of engineering they showed, the primaries in the new system are 10-15% better than the old ones...however, current secondaries can dwarf that advantage, overall.

It will really depend on where the PVP meta goes. If the meta bypasses these experimentals (due to available experimentals)...they are useless and have to be changed.

Between each roll being a guaranteed improvement, to fixed negative values per rank, to the materials trader; I am very excited for the changes. I do think we need to test in beta how many rolls it takes to increase each rank, and the materials trader exchange rate; but as a whole these are all welcome improvements.

I think if the secoondaries are REALLY good, they will break even with the new system.
Basically what Sandro says - "If you have an awesome roll, keep it. If you have anything less, you're going to be better off re-rolling."

Right call IMO.

I, too, like knowing that when I spend my hard-earned mats I am guaranteed to get something better than what I started with.

And that friend, is the point. No more RNG saying "no progress for you, you little ****!"

Yeah, liked it too.
No more fiddling with crappy rolls.

Now, it's like building an rpg character, except the character is the ship.

Hated the original implementation.
Looking forward to this one (and many of the other things in the upcoming patch).

Well, there's still RNG involved, but it only governs the amount of "progress" you do with one roll. Which is fine, imho. :)

Same. My problem with the current system is that it's possible to never get an improvement at all.

All I wanted was to know that my material spending would get an improvement. I don't care how much. Now there's genuine progression.

For all players.

Indeed. I have been mucking around with Engineers for almost 2 years now, & haven't even reached rank 5 with any of them. The fact that I only have 5 ships might be part of that though ;).

Min-maxers: from 100s, or 1,000s of rolls to 20: yeay, fantastic
Everybody else: from 3-4 rolls to 15: booh, hiss

Please a small segment to crap on the rest.

The worst is the progression argument. You give me less than I had and used, but a quicker path to the very best. I don't think Sandro knows what the word "Progression" means.

I don't know. Do you?
"Progression" to me means incremental improvement. Which is exactly what the new system is, in comparison to the old system where you were able to get the best in the first roll or never, depending on your luck.
