I’m not chasing F$#ckin boatloads of mats n data cross the galaxy for some dip engineer in their lil holes, let’s take over their systems n ransom off their shopping list wielding asses-

Till after the bounty reset anyways.
The grind is making me crazy.

Especially since it’ll lead to your death quite quickly as it is right now, even in PvE...

It isnt. The core argument rampaging across the forum is:"Wut?! Play the game to progress?! I'd rather die!" To that it is perfectly reasonable to say:"Fine bro, play a game you do enjoy." Honestly, if mining, trading, smuggling, exploring, CZs, RES, assassinations, passenger missions, BGS manipulation etc is all boring and dull and stupid and a grind, then maybe you are looking for a different game without knowing it yet.

Honestly, this has been the worst consequence of engineers. Every cmdr should have a c-rated Viper mk3, and regularly do RES in them. It is a very good remedy against the "I need an engineered FDL/Cutter/Corvette to kill NPCs" disease that otherwise spreads rapidly.

This is the argument I assumed would be in your first post. I see the engineers as the games difficulty slider. If the player struggles against the AI engineering allows the less combat focused player to continue to compete.

Practice is great & all, but not what everyone wants to do, just as the OP doesn't want to 'grind' :)

Dirty Drives and FSD range. Everything else gets filed under could care less.

Only thing I've Engineered in the game so far are FSDs for jump range and I haven't lost a ship in the game in over two years. I also generally only use small ships in the game.

YMMV, apparently.

Personally, I'd prefer difficulty is 'region based' rather than 'rank based'. You like low-lvl NPCs? Stay in high-sec. You want to test your mettle? Anarchy it is. Engineering is than added to it: maybe even needed for the most difficult regions, and absolute 100% overkill in Sol.

Yes, region based difficulty makes sense too (more than we currently have), and perhaps we will be seeing the difference become more extreme soon. Combat Logging aside, higher security systems should be safer with the new C&P stuff, hopefully the lower security systems will receive 'baddie' equivalents of the ATRs.
 
Confusing thread. I'm not sure if this is a stand against something or for something. But blaze your own trail, I guess. Have fun with whatever you plan to do.
