How much did you earn from long distance passenger missions?

Zip. Zilch. Nada.

Then again, I haven't participated in them... and short-run only a few missions and that was it for me. Decided playing Space Bus Driver really wasn't my idea of enjoyment.

Of course, when I open the game, I'm in it for the experience- not for the credits and possessions. ;)

0, still 200M in bank, and do not care about those with loads of money, and/or board flipping.
There's a lot more important things to fix/implement, these topics only help to slow actual bug fixing/development down.

But there's always some Ned Flanders wagging their fingers saying "tsk tsk tsk, this ruins the game. NERF FD! NERF OR THE GAME WILL DIE!!"

I was already 3E,K/A with 2B in the bank when I started it. Didn’t need the credits or anything. I figured it
Would be a nice change and just did it for a week.
I have another commander, Rick Sanchez (3L-173). He flies only small ships, only in open and never fixes his paint job. I refuse to do anything lucrative with him because he’s still flying his Sidewinder, The Evil Morty.

I dusted off my Beluga and scampered off to Rhea, only to find that the hysteria failed to mention the couple of days required to become allied with the factions and gain access to the spendy missions.
Gave that up as a bad job without even doing a single run to/from wherever it was.

I don't know about Smeaton, but i went to Mebd with basic rep and somehow was pulling in 100 million without being allied. Maybe Smeaton was a rubbish system for this compared to others. :D

Zero, zilch, nada, nothing, not a shiny brass farthing, not a penny, not a groat, not a bean, 0 credits whatsoever. As a fairly casual player I don't really have the time to dedicate to hauling passengers massive distances against the clock. If I go exploring I take my time about it.

I never got into those kinds of passenger running missions.

For me, it's always been:

Load up on VIP's taking vacation tours - usually 4-6 at a time, fly around from beacon to beacon, and then take them home.

Payouts for these are typically 40-120m per run, with an average of around 70m, with 7-15 beacons to visit across a few hundred lightyears.
Usually takes around 1-2 hours, and often leads me to find interesting places to revisit, or learns me a bit of the history of the galaxy.

Those were definitely high paying.

The VIPs going from A to B were even better! I don't see those much anymore, although I haven't been focused on passenger missions much over the last 6 months. But back in 2017, those VIP missions were about the easiest money I have ever made in the game.

I think I made at least 4 Billion from those alone over the span of about 4-5 months.

I've been using passenger missions for Cr since I ranked up for the Cutter.
Never been a board hopper/exploiter and only loaded up by visiting various bases/stations.
Made about 2.5 billion in LTT 9360 lately, but I already had all the ships I want.
My best runs to Smeaton were well over 165 million, net.

I also fondly remember those short distance, o/w VIP passengers.
Would like to see those come back.

About 200m, with the bare minimum of mode switching. Enough to buy an FDL and an Anaconda when I'd traded in my T9.

Off for an explore now whilst everything goes potty. :)

I pushed about 7-10bil ... But a lot of mine was turning on my speakers waiting to be interdicted while i fed/chaged/played with my twin girls.... Momdad ftw! ... It was nice because then when i actualy COULD dedicate time to playing i did not have to worry about credits and losing ships.

For me fun of flying a spaceship is bailing out when I feel I will be overtaken. For me fun of flying combat capable ship is knowing when I have to retreat, and when I have to come back to deal a blow to my enemy.

Cool. Rest of your post sounds a lot like sour grapes and is off topic. The game is supposed to be enjoyable; but other people will play it, and have different priorities. You can't really change that. For you to have freedom to choose, means everyone does.

Fly safe!

How much did you earn, and how much more would you have needed to be happy?

Less than a billion. I'm not sure the second part of the question makes much sense, to be fair. More credits doesn't make me any less or more happy. Credits are a means to an ends; nothing more. That commanders want to attribute more 'value' to credits than the game does, or hold them sacrosanct, seems to be a popular pass time. I don't see the point to be fair.

Frontier aren't standing still; the game assumes commanders, over time, will accrue wealth. There are endless things being added, that can have wealth spent on. This isn't inconsistent, when you consider rank, naval progression, faction reputation and so on are all accrued.

So I'll keep making credits, as and when seems relevant. Pretty sure that's what Frontier intended, really. Do stuff. Have fun. Make credits and then spend (sink) them. Engineering and the like are where the real time sinks are now, anyway.

100 million plus change, enough to top off my balance and buy my first Cutter and A-grade FSD, leaving enough for seed money and rebuys. Not sure I need any more yet. My next ship will probably be a Cheiftain but I can always reduce my fleet if I need funds to cover it. I'm back to making a few million per week doing missions and/or CGs.

I've no interest in PVP or PVX so I don't need megawealth to fund my activities. I read about people with tens of billions and I literally can't imagine what I'd do with it. Buy every ship, max them all out, then what? Good luck to anyone for whom billions of credits genuinely makes their game more fun or interesting or comfortable. It would make not a jot of difference to mine.

0 credits.

Board hopping and sitting 40 minutes in supercruise? I think I'll pass. Also, the real reason is that I don't need more credits.

$1.1b

I’ve played since the first alpha and never used a single exploit, cheat or unfair advantage.
I don’t even shoot at powerplants because I think it’s ridiculous that you could disable a giant warship that way.

But I just don’t have it in me to do endless grind anymore. There are just better things to do in life.

But I would like to play Elite in an Imperial Cutter.
And now I can.

4B in the bank atm, plus Cutter, Anaconda and all the others..... so about 6B total I'd guess.
I only started playing the game 2 weeks ago, but had a suspicion it'd get nerfed. Glad I partook!

Though there really is no reason to stop if you're in need of cash, as you can still grind VIPs to Smeaton for ~100M/h.
