That makes so much sense to send first the scouts to assess the threat and, when it proves to be dangerous, they call in the main forces.
 
The Thargoid Scouts need a bit of a buff. They barely did any damage, until the Interceptor showed up.
 
Would instantly make them more challenging if they can only be damaged with AX weapons. Also I noticed that w/o the AX scanner you can't resolve the signature. While if you have the AX scanner installed, it seems you read the signature instantly w/o the actual scan being performed. Can somebody confirm?

You get a basic scan and don't seem to need an advanced one, probably because they don't have hearts. They're so mobile an advanced scan would be pretty hard though.
 
Yes I think they should be a bit challenging though.

If they stay in NHSS, then they can be made as challenging to the point nobody can beat them. If they at some point hyperdict regular players, then they can't be too challenging.
4-5 ships attacking a lone standard player in a somewhat or none engineered small or medium ship is probably a serious challenge for most players.

Getting the challenge right is probably a very difficult task for the designers and what ever they do it will be to easy for a lot of players and to hard for a lot of players - at the same time.

This. The sound of it is good IMHO, a bit like in the original Elite. Lone Thargoid (these Scouts look VERY much like them :)) was survivable even with pretty basic Cobra mk III with Pulse Laser (felt like an achievement though), Witchspace ambush with four of them wasn't until you had tooled up your ship (extra energy unit, beam lasers + energy bomb).
 
I notice that nobody mentioned just how hostile that wee thing was. It looked like it opened fire the moment you dropped down from SC. Finally proof the tharg firing without provacation?

Haha have you not witnessed the months and months and months of them being fired upon first? I think they have been very tolerant tbh. Talk about only seing what you want to see. Lol
 
You can see these sygnals only in Pleiades. In Wyrd there are threat 3-6 sygnals with scouts only. And as I understood, it will be: Threat 3 with 2 scouts, Threat 4 with 4 scouts, Threat 5 with Cyclops, Threat 6 with 5-6 scouts and Cyclops, Threat 7 with 5-6 scouts and Basilisk and Threat 8 with scouts and Medusa. In some systems sygnals will be still usual with interceptors only

I just had a threat 4 with 8 scouts!
