Why can't we have a proper road map like this one?

Well where do I start? How about with the current "no road map" allowing them to "do what they want" and yet ignoring the feedback on their forums designed specifically for feedback and going ahead with the Engineer changes anyway. So in other words, either with or without a roadmap they still can't get it right.

Next - having charged for Horizons meant they were committed to a point but do you really think they couldn't change their minds, anytime? Q4 was, if you remember, TBA... so was never on the roadmap.

OK that being said, a roadmap isn't a committment, it's a plan of where they want to go unlike say, charging for a project that isn't began and having to deliver on the project.

FDev do what they want, that's been clear over the last 4 years. Making excuses for why the game is in the state is in is just feeble. They chose to half-bake Multi-Crew - they decided to do the same with Engineers which launched with massaive issues. Not down to use they A) couldn't code it correctly and had massive bugs, B) couldn't work out how long they needed to code it, c) couldn't work out how dull it is AND how boring it made PVP and also managed to make it pay-to-win because Mac users and Non-horizons players can't compete.

All of that had nothing to do with them being committed. They chose how they were going to make it, they weren't forced into doing it the way they did. MC everyone wanted NPC's - FDev gave us the worst possible option that nobody wanted and then tried to blame us for it's future development with Sandro saying "Well if they don't use it we won't develop it any further"

Don't listen to feedback? Let's see...

They added the second seat in the Keelback - as the community asked them to do.
They increased the Type 10 distributor - as the community asked them to do.
They boosted the Type 9 cargo capacity - as the community asked them to do.
The reduced the amount of RNG in engineering - not in the way we'd perhaps like, but they did it.
They fixed the beige plague - as the community begged them to do.
They put in-game trade and services tools into Elite - as the community asked them to do.

Don't listen to feedback? I disagree. They listen to all feedback, they just don't necessarily agree with it all. Feedback isn't a mandate. It's suggestions, which they can decide to use or not use.

Which has nothing to do with what I just said. Good that you found a few crumbs they threw your way instead of listening to the feedback for the actual gameplay.

Fixing the beige? What?? They BROKE it to begin with!!

Look at this FDEV https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/board/1-Star-Citizen

Besides the absence of any useful information on a weekly base, a road map would be awesome. Why can't we have one? Fear of not getting your deadlines done like in the past and moving from a "season" based model that didn't worked to undefined times for your releases? Given the slow development, has the great "10 year" plan now turned into a 20 year plan as well? [haha]

Quality entertainment right here.

If you're going to consider that huge list of things in Chapter one "crumbs" then you really need to reconsider your expectation from a game. And it goes directly to your claim they don't listen to feedback. They did take in a great deal of feedback, and a lot of it went into Beyond. Some of it wasn't the way we'd like it to have been done, but that doesn't mean they "didn't listen."

There is no roadmap !
Nobody knows how to complete the game [noob]

LIES! CMDR Thrust from Bradford already enjoys the full installation of the finished Elite Dangerous game...

On topic: I actually find it very smart of Frontier not to reveal too much up front.

Usually an update contains much more than announced, especially in the details. In my opinion, that is far better than to search for the one thing you wanted in the update and not finding it.
There have been severe problems in the past with the development and the announcement of Elite updates and features (Offline mode, Mac Horizons) and the way they do it now is actually pretty good and far better communicated.

I just told you they ignored the very feedback thread they made specifically for the Engineers according to forum users here. Just because they happened to agree with the player base a few times on stuff they made doesn't necessarily mean they're listening.

I can see that the major gameplay areas are no concern to you as you didn't list any of them in your "Fdev are listening" examples. I expect gameplay from a game - what do you expect?

So we've established that when it comes to what I was talking about, the gameplay, they don't listen. I wasn't saying anything about 1 seat on one ship getting fixed.

For reference the quoted poster spent a decent period of time on here talking about how that game was going to supercede Elite in various ways. I'm not sure his judgement is that great tbh.

Have you thought about playing a game you might enjoy? :p

So wing missions aren't game play?
Adding the megaship interactions isn't game play?
The trade tools don't affect game play?
Being able to tell what kind of stuff can be found on a planet by looking at the new surfaces (yes, they did say that) isn't affecting game play?
And are you aware there's people on this forum who are adoring the new engineering?

...are we playing the same game?

LOL I do every day as it goes. When ED actually puts in the gameplay I'm after, i'll happily come back to it. Hoping Beyond fixes the things they've left abandoned for the last 4 years i.e. the CORE GAMEPLAY ;)

All examples of non-core gameplay which I just said was what I was talking about. Megaships are not a major gameplay area. In fact, they're boring by pretty much all accounts. No interactive hulks doing nothing and no gameplay. You obviously think that listening to a recording is gameplay so that's good for you but please try and discuss MY point, not the point you wish to try and drag this conversation too.

The megaship interactions in the BETA involve things like PIRATING from them. There's no recording involved in that.
And if you're telling me trade isn't core game play, we must be playing different games, because my Trade rank of Elite tells me otherwise.
