Since "Beyond" is now apparently Elite Dangerous 3.0 what exactly am I getting for my LEP?

... and as I said, no mention of it being "Season 3.0" - Nobody is complaining that this update is free - just confused why this is "Season 3.0" and not "Horizons 2.5" - and I have no idea what number the base game will be up to.

It is not a complaint about value, or a "where's my stuff" or any other sort of whine - just a "how are things going to pan out / be presented" for future content. The answer is obviously "we don't know yet", "we haven't made up our mind" or "we are just not going to tell you".

I was just pointing out that there was a recent response by the dev concerning us and say they have some things in the pipeline for us this year. I will say thus far it feels like we've been disregarded and it's nice to see that reaponse

Now I don't know if this has been raised before but I remember them saying there would be stages of "updates" free of charge but that there would be new paid content post 2.4 so I was surprised to note that this beta is for v3.0 of Elite Dangerous. Therefore I am wondering exactly what we LEP purchasers are going to receive this "season / whatever" in return for our not inconsiderable (in my case anyway) outlay?

You will get exactly what was promised in the small print when you purchased the LEP....you did read the small print didn't you? i.e. nothing was guaranteed or promised.

Some of us read the small print and made the decision to roll with paying for each update as it came out.

However you will continue to get additional non-cosmetic updates/DLC for as long as FD create them (again not guaranteed). However, as an aside, the LEP does not include "exclusive" content so dont try to pull that one FD.

Maybe subscribing to a YouTube channel like ObsidianAnt's would help you keep up to date on all things Elite: Dangerous.

Here is his latest......

Watching earlier ones would have answered all your questions I think.

As much as I appreciate the recommendation (thank you :) ), I strongly believe Frontier should make a statement on this subject that is more specific than the one they have released.

How on earth did I miss to rep this one? Precisely the lesson I've learned. No more pre-orders, regardless how good previous track record was.

For me, it's no more money...at all. Until progress is made. For the game and especially the Design Approach.

I actually sold my Beluga, rather than buy the Midnight Skin for it. My OCD was driving me nuts, something had to be done.

If Beyond was officially part of Horizons, they couldn't charge for the premium aspects of it they said will be coming.

You make a good a point that the premium content can't be part of the Horizons season (that Horizons owners have already paid for in full) but it doesn't follow that 'Beyond' (all the free stuff we have been told about) needs to be 3.0 as a result. Calling it 3.0 does imply it's a separate season though which is at odds with what we have been told so far (that 'Beyond' is part of Horizons).

Of course none of this really moves our understanding forward without clarification from FDev. We are all just guessing. I'd like to see a return of the dev updates & sneak peeks we used to see regularly up to about a year ago to help the community understand the work involved, and the logic behind these kind of decisions. At the FX show FDev were deliberately cagey about the version numbers for no reason I could determine.

Get a job :D I appreciate Kickstarter and have supported many for good or bad. The one thing I never believe is life time pass. It will, for obvious reasons, never work. Will still support them, regardless

Just paid my tab at the bar, WELL above the price. I'm good

There are no "premium aspects" of Beyond itself. Beyond is entirely free to Horizons owners. There will be specific separate premium content that will come out before Beyond is finished at end of 2018, as per FDev.

Zac - Head of communications said:
In addition to all the content talked about at Frontier Expo, we also have some pretty cool things in the works which will be available to purchase. We're not ready to talk about them just yet so we can't give you any details but rest assured that the lifetime expansion pass owners will be looked after and will be getting their hands on premium content as part of their lifetime expansion pass before the end of 2018 and the Beyond series of updates.
I hope that helps,
Zac

I think that's all the original OP wanted, some official reassurance, not white knights saying 'of course fdev will honour everything they say, the game is perfect, you were lucky to pay so much for such a perfect game' (ad nauseam). Not sure why David Braben couldn't have dropped a two line reassurance somewhere that LEP subscribers would be looked after, maybe pinned to the forum so that they knew they'd not been forgotten (even an email) - in the meantime a few things from the store wouldn't go amiss, or maybe create something especially for LEP owners, a paintjob or something.

I was wondering when this LEP paranoia would popup again...

Calm down, the world is not ending tomorrow.

And even if it did you could die in peace with the knowledge that your lifetime pass did, indeed, last a full lifetime.

(Yeah I Know late to the thread but I just couldn't help it, some things just beg to be said!)
