Blowing up ship by overheating

Is this possible ?

the type 6 gets very hot, I have had temps upto 200, was work I push it more if the ship explodes?

The overheating in beta seems to have been toned down, in PB ships went pop all the time from overheating, causing a storm of weeping and wailing.

I fear they have toned down overheating a bit too much.

Yeah Type 6 runs mega hot coming out of a long jump. Just fire off a heat sink.

I use a sink every time i jump in the 6.

Mind you ive had it at 200 on the gauge (Bug ?) and it didnt go bang. Sturdy old bus :D

thank everyone for the response....yea the lakon 6 is a tank. I'm not sure about the lorry engine noise when your in the hanger...quite loud!

where do you get heat sinks from? I had them on the combat build...is this something you buy for a utility mount?

Have ticketed the lorry noise when in the hangar. Is this only on the Type 6? I haven't heard it on all the less cheaper ships.

The loud lorry noise is actually the lift mechanism. Visit Galaxy map and the noise goes down to normal levels. I ticketed it a few days ago, too.

Noticed the Type 6 runs very hot without damage, and it also doesn't seem to use much fuel in a jump either. Seems weird that I'm paying less in fuel than with the smaller ships. Plus the shadows on the sides of the cockpit seem a bit low res and glitchy.

1100% heat in a type 6.

I went out and tested this.

Rigged for silent running, then boosted and charged/cancelled SC repeatedly.

I got to 1100% (that's not a typo, eleven hundred percent). No damage. I dumped all my heat sinks, but only got down to around 700. I'm just powered down now, waiting to cool as I type.

I've ticketed it.

I think the display for the type 6's heat meter is just incorrectly displaying information.

Unless they expect the darn thing to explode from overheating with a single hyperspace jump.

edit:
rcsmith's experience suggests there might be an actual problem with heat damage for the type 6. Still, the heat meter can't be right. The poor thing would melt just trying to make any trading run whatsoever with the way its meter quickly jumps to 100 and ever so slowly decreases.

The type 9 starts to smoke inside around 140% and starts to flash a light so type 6 is broken kinda miss that bug :) now I need to have cooling breaks if doing a few hypers:(

I've had the type 6 at 220% heat, no damage or cockpit fizzling, upgraded to type 9 and that thing looks like its going into meltdown at 150%. I wasnt going to push my type 6 any further though for testing purposes (hint: you can charge your drive for a jump and point away from target and your drive will keep heating your ship up if you're willing to test past 220%)

So either the type 6 is a beast at resisting heat damage...or its not working as intended (probably the latter as the type 6 has other probs too...like landing...)

Weep, wail - because I miss the halcyon days of being able to broil a Hauler with non-violent piracy just by tailing him as he spins up his hyperdrive and the charge rate slows due to mass effects. I wish I'd recorded a few just for posterity's sake.
