I love the cargo enhancement on the Type-9. Now it really feels right per the size of the ship. Hopefully the Type-10 gets the same improvements. Staying away from populated areas, going with Solo and knowing how to avoid NPC interdictions it is now a serious trader with a lot lower risk and cost. Some may now decide never to go for the Cutter but consider it's abilities.
The Cutter has a little more cargo, excellent jump range, serious weapons, great maneuverability using it's drift, awesome boost and with the right pilot very few will defeat a Cutter in combat. Forget the specs on an Anaconda, Corvette and Cutter. A great pilot overrides them all. Still expert PvP combat pilots in wings will take it out as they spent time working on solutions. NPCs are not an issue. As a combat ship it will mass lock every other ship in the game preventing them from jumping out. PvPers love this ability using the Cutter and Clippers in a wing to take out PvP ships. NPCs are just annoying not even putting a serious dent in even lower class 6A shields as the Cutter delivers the cargo to the next destination. Yawn...
These are qualities a Type-9 cannot compete with. The Type-10 with probably the most hardened hull in the game so far will compete a lot better but perhaps nowhere close to engaging the enemy with the maneuverability and firepower of a Cutter with a pilot who knows what they are doing. It will cost 700 mil to outfit the Type-10 which is much better invested in a Cutter. I would never take a Type-10 into PvP for now without a lot more testing. Not so much a big deal with an armored shielded Cutter at the same cost and my skills with a lot of experience knowing what it can do.
What I miss with the Type-9 was it's much lower cargo capacity when I was going up through the ranks trying to get to a Cutter. It is a lot easier now in the game that other players will not have to deal with. I have no regrets and wish the best for new pilots.
Still if a player quickly went to a Cutter without the combat skills to use it then they are target practice for even noobs who they will never lock their weapons on. It is not about what we fly but how well we fly it.
