Newcomer / Intro Internal Report Delivery mission from Schwann Port

I've just landed at Schwann Port to pick up some data and courier mission rewards and thought I'd see if there was anything passenger or mission-wise I could do on my way through to Nery. As a beginner with not too much in the bank my eyes popped out when I saw 867,315CR, 780,892CR, 693,816CR and 693,860CR for Internal Report missions to somewhere called Ratraii...then I checked the Galaxy Map and had to scroll and scroll and scroll until, some 22046.68LY later, it popped up on my map.

I'm wondering if that kind of thing pops up quite a lot or if I'm wasting my time a little in this sector. I'm trying to build up some rep with the Federation but they seem a cold bunch. I've been running data and passengers but I've bounced around the locale quite a bit and I don't know if I should be slightly more focused on just visiting 2/3 or 4 stations in a mission loop?

...oh, Schwann Port - definitely the prettiest and most 'home-like' station I've visited yet, nearly made me crash checking out all the trees, open spaces and statues (did I really see a statue?!)

Yes there's are splendid statues to distract the gogoling pilot.

It is considered better to concentrate on boosting your relationship with just a few factions at a couple of stations at a time.

The sector won't have anything to do with it, but you are at a station with a tourist economy so more likely to find long-range passenger (i.e. tourist) missions. (Just FYI those missions you found are intended as a bonus for people about to travel to Colonia). If you are trying to increase your Fed rank look for systems that have at least one Fed-aligned faction that is in Boom state (and preferably several other Fed systems within a 20LY radius) and you should see a fair number of boom data delivery missions which are great for increasing rank especially if you can stack 15-20 at a time.

Thank you. That level of detail has probably just saved me wasting so much time doing extraneous missions for factions pointless for my needs. I've just found a system with three Fed aligned factions in a state of Boom. Hopefully I can make an impact now.

I was most amused when the Alliance person I was tying to ally with kept dissing me basically saying “back again? Why do t you go do something more interesting instead”

Do you mean ly or ls? This sort of payout is typical for data missions with a 200k+ls cruise from the arrival star and are very lucrative if enough are collected before making the journey. I have made a few trips like this in amongst other missions as they are REP++ so help raise naval rank effectively and at the same time are quite good for the bank balance.

Yes, I really do mean ly. As Main Sequence said above; those missions are in the area of Colonia and I suppose a nice little bonus if you're heading that way. I've seen plenty of 15-20M credit missions going out that far with rich tourists etc but I'd never seen a courier or data type mission that far or for, comparatively, so little.

I'll look out for the 200k ls type data missions though, good cash is always nice but getting any extra rep with the Feds would be great.

Hopefully I can make my Alliance contact sick of the sight of me too...maybe he'll send me off on a lucrative mission with loads of +++rep. Talking of people at bases, I always feel sorry for the guy who dropped his spanners you sometimes hear about as you enter of leave a station. I do love the radio chatter.
