The silver lining I guess. I just hope any reports on this in the gaming press don't dig too deep into this thread. Some of the comments in support of the griefers are beyond embarrassing and I would hate to see them quoted in the main stream press.
Contrary to what the people who posted those remarks might think... Their comments are not going to be viewed in anything approaching a positive light by the general public.
Let's be honest here, If this makes the nationals the managers at FD would be over the moon, free advertising .. even bad press is good for a game.
And yes UA bombing is not going away because of a fringe event. It is a part of the game, which is kind of the point here.
Yes it was distasteful, but if it was done within the fair context of the game (I.e - not an expliot) it's fair game no matter how you look at it .. Did GTA take out hiring prostitutes, and then killing them to get your money back? ... nope.
Why would anybody blame FDev? Yes they could have done things better, but all is not lost. I still think devs will do what they can - will it be by overturning UA-boming, or helping in other in-game ways, time will tell.
I have. Why don't you take advantage of that Winged Hussars' station they left unprotected with their meta-alloys reserve moving to this public spirituous event?

A memorial is symbolic, as you alluded to earlier. However, the symbol does not have the same meaning, weight or significance between all who behold it.
Game mechanics are in play with Dove Enigma and there can be no greater tribute ED can give.

Not only that but how many live streams need to be sniped or how many community events need to be tampered with before people think to defend their events? It's like leaving your car unlocked with the windows down and acting outraged when it's stolen. Of course it was ua bombed. Who wouldn't guess that would happen. IT ALWAYS DOES, so defend your crap. Bring some ma's along and attack cmdrs hauling ua's. But this will go on deaf ears. It's going to happen to the next event and there will be another thread calling for fdev to magically fix things and ban people.

This was NOT a legitimate in-character act of aggression. There's nothing legitimate about this.
This is an obvious case of harassment: a real person dying of cancer. A real person. There are no in-game excuses for this. No in-character reason for it. They did it to troll a dying man and the community; they did it for the giggles and for the real-life infamy, to hurt people on a personal level.
It doesn't matter that the mechanics exist in the game, what matters is the INTENT. They did it on purpose to harm human beings, not video game characters.
It's low. It's despicable. No excuses. The trolls must be banned, period.
