General / Off-Topic Let's Hear Your Stuff

I want to share some of my home made music and listen to anyone else's music. Covers or original stuff.

Here's some of mine:

My old Punk band 'Cattle':

Smiths Cover:

Motorhead cover:

This was all recorded in my council flat, so for neighbours sanity, an electronic drum kit was used. And I'm not a recording engineer, so I know a professional could have made better recordings (I use Sonar X3 Producer)

Also, apart from the first song which is my old band playing it live (obviously I recorded the solo after as I've only got two hands, so that was done afterwards), I play all the instruments and I'm not a bassist or a drummer, so in advance I know that my drumming and bass playing isn't up to scratch. And my singing is shouting in key ;)

Cheers, show us your tunes.

Unfortunate originals.

Played bass with a bunch of chimps a while ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2ChfqLZf9M

Guitar with other chimps before that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLy6GGaWvI8

The less said about this the better, although it was fun at the time (from about 15 years back, right-hand guitar in the mix): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHojgrx0mKE

And for something more recent I got into synths.... https://soundcloud.com/hairychris/another-interlude-recording-with-moar

We don't talk about the trip hop band I was in for a while.

[hehe]

EDIT: Currently I'm getting back into guitar and doing stupid things with modular synths.

Are you really sure about listening to "anyone else's music"? Here's a couple from my studio 10 years ago. The recording software, I forget the name, was later bought by Adobe and became incorporated into what is now Adobe Audition. With today's technology it can all be accomplished on a single desktop setup with one keyboard and a laptop.

WARNING the song titles will give you a clue as to what you are about to hear! Metal-heads may need to call 911. Play at your own risk! Obviously 'not giving up my day job' was a wise decision! Enjoy! :)

Bluesette - Jazz Standard
The Candyman - Based on the Sammy Davis Jr version

Ok, stripped all tags for personal reasons.
EP from '96, yes pre internet.
Recorded at a fancy place near Minneapolis.
I'm the bassist.

...Nice setup!
Thanks. That Simmons drums setup is a combination of two systems in near perfect condition plus me dialing it in with high end hardware over the years which may be the only double base version (not shown) left in existence without a scratch on it. The single component prices in good condition are exponentially increasing in their value. I may have to contact Christies or Soutebys. Not to be confused with later Simmons offerings which have little value. But we are getting off topic.

Some good stuff shared here, nice one guys.

Metal-heads may need to call 911

I would classify myself as a metal-head, but that doesn't mean I don't also love Wes Montgomery, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, etc. Hell, I like Sinatra and even Neil Diamond too. ;)

I'll try and dig out some of my stuff later...

I'm petty grateful for this thread. Finding it fun to go back into the history files.
Also currently residing in the where are they now category, a little solo project with a sci-fi theme;

There's a story manuscript (somewhere) for Adventures of Eilah; a flourescent blue skinned, bike-riding hyper-fairy from beyond regular spacetime. Got a college age friend of hers (mine) to read few random reflections around quantabike maintenance class or just before bomb club after school.

A bit fun I'm quite fond of ... voaycG3ii astrovise

Other than hosting on my server, what's today's way of sharing .flac? (Yes i'm snubbing apple people).

I've not used .flac files (Windows PC here). I can mixdown to .flac on my PC with Sonar (Cakewalk), but I'm not sure whether that could then be converted to .WAV .AIFF etc etc. I think after dithering down and then converting into those file types, to go through another process might not be possible. The thing is, I don't know about these technicalities -just stuiff I read on recording forums about mixing down, so I could be completely wrong. Maybe Lossless MP3 would work? I think it depends on the type of music, ie some styles are more forgiving to compression than others.

Be good to hear your stuff.

For drums I'm using a Roland HD-1 with Addictive drums in my DAW. Like your recordings btw.
