Looking for legal ways to irritate gankers in Open that are fun, cheap, easy and cheesy.

As for DBOBE quotes here's one :

"What would I want from a game ?, I want to be able to play a great game without being griefed by teenagers. But having said that I do want a feeling of risk out there"

You only have to watch his reaction when he is griefed by players on a live stream while he is trying to do enjoy doing something legal (in-game context). Its very apparent he doesn't like it any more than we do.

It baffles me why there isn't a hard line in-game stance on illegal (in-game context) player kills.

I've said this before but if a Pilots Federation member kills another pilots federation member (aka pvp) without the target player being a legitimate (bounty/cg/pp) target then the PF should take action.
This can be anything from hounding that player out of non-anarchy space with ATR type military ships or by turning on a beacon in the ship (mandatory for PF membership) that shows all other PF ships where they are until the bounty is cleared.

There are PvP groups that are part of the core group of players that give feedback/direction back to the team dictating the game's direction. There's a whole meta-game going on outside the game to force their hand.

Meanwhile people buy the game and get sealclubbed and just leave, telling their friends not to bother. The majority of my friends won't touch Elite because of it and not wanting to be banished to Solo/PG to play - got better things to do with their gaming time than be other people's 'content'

Within my group at least ED could be doing 3+ times better without the gankers.

I think FDEV were hoping the community would police itself, BH'ers dealing with the gankers etc. They didn't realize the first major exploits would be criminals shooting each other in sidewinders to make money and clear bounties, and that the gankers would always play in solo only emerging to attack the defenseless then scuttle back to their safespace to grind some more seal clubbing tools.

If at any point FDEV decide to change the timer they can, as it stands they think it's OK to log out in 15 seconds whilst in danger or they wouldn't have set it that way. Personally I don't do it (except when real life calls), but I've no problem with players who do.

Not at all relevant compared ot a dev post that says 'using the menu log to escape combat when losing is not intended gameplay and is frowned upon'. Like I say, not going looking, you'll have to take my word for it (or not, I really don't care).

The head honcho doesn't like griefers in a game with a 15 second timer to log out in combat, I suspect those things might be linked.

I'm not willing to take your word for it, source it. That way I can see it in the relevant context and pick it to pieces.

If we're taking some sort of satisfaction from griefing the griefers, doesnt that make us griefers too, and worthy of all the same out of game punishments people lobby for here?

A pair of railguns will punch through the shields of any medium ship that isn't an FDL with boosters coming out of its ears. At which point micro gimbal at long range will give you a very high accuracy against modules. If your shields pop vs a railgun ship and they move to 3km, it's time to seriously pay attention to your module health.

Wait.. WHAT? Railguns do not phase through shields that are up and operational! They will punch through modules with the Super Penetrator mod but the shields have to drop beforehand..Not sure where you are getting your facts sir......

Sorry, I just don't buy this as a reason not to play ED. You can fly around in this game for months and not get ganked. There are known places (CGs, Birth systems, engineers etc.) where this occurs and if you must go there and don't want to take the risk then either go solo/PG or fly with friends. I have been in many CGs in open and only was attacked once and I was carrying cargo so I considered that a valid attack.

The ratio of players in open who have left me alone compared to the ones who have attacked me is probably close to 100/1.

By that logic, if a murderer breaks into your home and tries to kill you but you manage to defend yourself and kill the murderer first, that makes you a murderer?

Gankers are trying to kill us. Successfully defending ourselves from one does not "make us griefers too". o7

New players start in those birth systems and that's their first experience - fixing that early experience has to be a priority as first impressions count.

I never said they did... You've misread my post. I meant that super pen railguns will easily take down a shield on a medium or smaller ship as long as it isn't a Fer De Lance. The super pen implies that modules will be minced soon after the shield drops, not that it will go through a shield. The FDL, unlike other medium ships, can equip a big enough shield combined with boosters to make railgun setups considerably less able to get at its modules.

Sure, I'm as ready as I'll ever be. By the way, I don't have any issue with gankers, you're content just like everything else as far as I'm concerned, no salt here, I just wanna make a name for myself as a decent pilot.

Yeh, something tells me you've painted me something I'm not. I just want to challenge myself to keep getting better, but it's cool :) Ready when you are.

sweet, PM me your CMDR name and we can meet up and fight at founders world

We've seen quite enough evidence in recent days of how parts of the Elite Dangerous:Community is the most Toxic and Maladjusted Gaming Community i've ever been part of

I was reading some old forums [oblivion modding 2012] this week and after awhile, I was just "wow, these people are so civilized."
