For those looking for another way to make money after Smeaton

This video should never have been put up, how silly. I see the nerf hammer coming up with that method of making money, either that or the people that don't like it will whine and moan until that too is not a way to make money.

This is a bit different. Yeah, it pays decent, but not near as much as Smeaton, it requires actual gameplay, some modicum of skill, a purpose built fitting, and knowledge of multiple game mechanics.

Has anyone tried this in the Beta?

I'm interested in how the new C&P will affect this. I know you wait for the NPC to jump to an anarchy system to do the actual pirating, but you will be racking up fines while interdicting target ships.

I believe the new C&P system working in beta may change this in ways you've never imagined.

It shouldn't effect it because your doing all the criminal stuff in Anarchy space.

I'd rather fancied the idea of playing "Space Pirate" back when I was first downloading the game. After a bit of reading though, I sort of gave up the idea. But this could just be worth testing on the Beta server.

Unless interdictions are now a criminal offense (bounty, not fine), then there is no reason you ever have to take a bounty when pirating. You either pull the target in Lawless/Anarchy space, or chase it into Lawless/Anarchy space.

Regardless of PvE or PvP, Anarchy factions and unoccupied systems are a criminal's best friend.

If you do get caught with bounties, well, you now have a dedicated pirate ship :)

I'm going to do some PvE piracy tonight and see how bounties are issues and how authority and ATF respond under the new rules.

So no, interdiction does not impose a bounty, just a fine. So if you want to interdict in security space and chase your prey out, no bounty.

Piracy in Low Security is still totally viable - takes the ops nearly five minutes to arrive. Plenty of time for me to boost 200k of slaves from a T-7/Eagle combo in my Asp.

Don't get too excited - sometimes finding T7's or T9's or any ship that is not a Dolphin, Orca or Beluga is like looking for High Grade USS's.

There will be no Nerf for this as LTD Piracy can be painfully, painfully slow finding targets. Why are there so many tourist ships in Agricultural Anarchies?

T6's, Keelbacks and Asp Scouts also carry LTD's. I have pirated them all.

In Live, yes, but in Beta tonight, the shipping lanes were full of Lakons. Lot's of T-7s and T-9s, even a chieftan and a T-10 at one point.

Then that sounds fantastic if that carries over to Live when Beta ends.
The shipping lanes need to be more realistic, cargo ships would be the most common ships - not Beluga's.

Great news.

Yep, there were no shortage of targets when I went looking. In the low security system I was stalking, pickings were a little thin, but eventually a T-6 showed up. In the other systems there were a lot to choose from.

It wasn't LTDs, but I did pull over a T-7 and an Asp that combined filled me up with slaves and performance enhancers. Sold them off for a nice profit and took no time at all.

Consider PvE piracy stealing low temperature diamonds. It wont pay as well as the Smeaton runs but its actual game play and you can get around 20-30 million an hour on a good run. You also never need to even get a bounty, kill anything or get bad rep. I made this very rouge guide on how to do it.

One thing I neglected in the video is if the target has point defense pass it up, it will destroy your limpets which is aggravating. Also, if the target is ranked mostly harmless or less, you can shoot out his PP and disable him. If higher rank he will usually just reboot. Lastly dont shoot out drives for pve piracy as your target will not lose momentum and will just scatter cargo everywhere.

Archon is stated to offer a 10% bonus for blackmarket sales to his people, in his space, but it was bugged. If its working now then it might be something to consider.

Repped for the video. The text is not on the screen long enough to read though, which was a bit annoying.

Also, if you have a Cutter, I doubt you need the credits and could make about 10mil/hr just from regular trading even if you did... But I guess it's something different to do

Unfortunately, we do have a Beluga Plague... Perhaps now that the Beige Plague is getting fixed they'll take a look at this one too...

Ahhh, you didn't note my sarcasm in the post. This is a new way to make money, therefore the cry babies who wanted people to stop making money (like the Smeaton/Haiden/Quince/rhea missions) will ask for a nerf hammer on this.

And to reply even further, yes the pay is decent. No, it is nowhere near as much as Smeaton (that should have only been half the pay that it was...this I wholeheartedly agree too). Everything in the game requires gameplay. No modicum of skill is needed. Yes, you need a purpose built ship and you are correct on the last part.

I spent an hour last night and another hour this evening flying around a couple of agricultural systems scanning everything. Apart from a couple of Adders, nothing else had mining lasers. Plenty of Type-9s, but not a mining laser to be seen. I did scan a few and they just had water and tea.

It's RnG, if you don't find one within 15 minutes, switch systems.

Also avoid PP control systems or you will mostly get PP transports.

Absolutely great tutorial. I am not a pirate, but its great to see you work. And I agree. Its much better then Quince/Smeaton/etc.

Cu at the next interdiction.;)

Thanks for a great video OP. Repped.

Glad to see we go about the hatchbreaking the same way, threeofseven.

I suck at planting NPCs, so I just have fun chasing them around and letting my limpets do the work.

I didn't realize that B rated collectors have the longest range.

Question though - why "the best" manifest scanner? I find that especially with the manifest scanner range doesn't really matter. What's your input or recommendation here?
