Grid girls? Yeah, F1's move was ridiculous. It's not like these girls were dragged to the track by armed men.

They chose to be there, and to boot, were treated like princesses.

I'm a total motorsport fan but I'm not going to even bother with the "political correctness" angle on this.

As a lifetime fan of F1 (Forza Ferrari!) I couldn't give a toss if grid girls disappear; I'm into the motorsport.

I've seen the Twitter response from the girls themselves. They're furious!

I feel sorry for them. All they were doing was working the job they chose to work.

And the dresses they wore at the GP's were conservative compared to every other motorsport. You should see drift events... And even there... The girls choose to be there.

My sympathy lies in that the girls have lost work.

I'm not saying you're wrong or your point isn't valid.... I just don't care that much either way.

They are just dressing agreed and we would not notice them not being there. For myself, a F1 psycho; they are sort of 'in the way' and I am more interested in the traffic lights etc.. Come on, come on, lets get on with it, attitude. So I totally see where you are coming from; but for me, it has always been about drivers; over teams. Ferrari, has always been F1 and deserve all the respect they get etc..

The grid girls outfits, these days, are always conservative and mostly reflect the nation they are representing, but that is politics and so back on track.

I would say that the management, should be thought about; because they are probably the most exploitive of the whole situation and so, respected and recommended agencies should only be used.

I would have thought the least sexist option would be to let the Women choose to be there or not. TELLING them they cannot do this or that is worse that the sexism it is supposed to be stopping, because removing the choice implies that the women are intellectually challenged and incapable of making any decision for themselves.

Keep them off the track. All they do is cause unrest and distraction. They have no business being there.

Flimley

......A more appropriate venue would be my house !

Agreed. Let's go racing!

This is a tough one no matter how you view it. I believe Ring Girls have been dropped and as we know they've been dropped from F1. The basis of this is harrassment with #metoo. Has anyone asked those ladies that with the public perception changed/ing would they continue to be "Ring Girls / Grid Girls" knowing that the men would be more aware of how they perceive / treat them?

I don't think I've found a reaction online from women who've said that they'll continue with the their job but should any male try being inappropriate they'll lob their johnson off or at least report them.

V2k.

Something doesnt become not sexist 'because they wanted it themselves!" The concept of having exclusively ring girls is sexist by definition, because only women get to be there and their sole qualification is 'being a hot chick'. Just because some of them dont mind it is sexist, doesnt mean it isnt sexist. There are simply three solutions:

1) Ignore it.
2) Add sexy dudes.
3) Remove sexy women.

1) doesnt fly in this day and age, 2) wouldn't be accepted by many fans so they went with 3). Personally I think 2) would have been hilarious. [haha]

TBH - I'm not bothered either. For example Susuka is generally a wet track - same with canada - who am I going to be more interested in - a grid girl with an umbrella or the driver who prefers the wet and stands a greater chance of getting pole during the qualifying?

I just hope that there's not going to be the stupid display - run out of the drivers like last year.

I would say that the day we get an F1 female driver and we came close with Suezi Wolf, there should be a male for her at every race; just to level the playing field.

Isn't there her replacement - Steve "welsh bloke but I make many humourous quips and I love F1 on C4 because C4 made me what I am today" - the equivalent?

Maybe its just me then.

Millions of woman, have made millions because they have been 'hot chicks' as you put it. From Bridget Bardot to Ginger spice. They have little more to offer and have made the best of what they have. Fair play to them.

That was just the USA GP and I hope they understood, it looked stupid. One has to wonder what the drivers though about that circus.
