So sorry to hear this news. Dale was an asset to our community and will be missed. I'm sure that you will do well in whatever you choose to Dale. Good luck.

I'll be sad to see you go, Dale!

I can only echo what others have said - you understand community management well and brought a lot of value to the forums.

Best of luck!

Dale was a voice of reason in a sea of discord at times, and will be missed ! Good luck on your next quest among the o's and 1's [up]

Ditto!

Could not have said it better.

Will we ever see as much activity in our threads from a Frontier staff member without him?

:(

I really liked Dale, especially since he got promoted to community manager. I love the whole community team, but Dale seemed like he understood us as gamers the best.

Thank you for all your work and good luck in your next adventure! o7

Agreed, plus Dale is the one dev who talked to the community by far the most. I'm very sad to hear this news. :(

I liked Dale's forum posts a lot because he didn't just do drive-bys to answer questions; there were a lot of times when he'd jump into a thread which didn't seem to be going much of anywhere and prompt some actual discussion. His posts tended to ask more questions than they answered, which is by far the best way of facilitating meaningful interaction between the developers and player community. His response to someone posting a variation of 'this is crap' was almost always 'why do you think it's crap and what would you do about it?', sometimes seasoned with 'I've been thinking about this myself and...'

In short, exactly what community engagement is about; recognising that meaningful communication is a two way process and has to be an ongoing dialogue, not something that you do as a one-shot thing every few months. Seemed like one of the good guys, I wish him the best in whatever he decides to do next.

In the words of the Prophet, Garcia: "What a long, strange trip it's been."

Good journey Dale, and may the wind be at your back.

You're one of the good guys, Dale. Thanks for your time at Frontier, and I sincerely hope that this move to other adventures in your life is a positive one!

What Red said.

You flatter me. All of you!

I tried to do the best I could to support and raise the community's wants and needs to the development team and relayed any information I could back. To me, it didn't feel like I did anything special beyond being respectful to everyone and working with you all for the better of the game and community as a whole. To see the kind words I've been offered and the appreciation given to me is very touching. I'm honoured to have been able to contribute to the community and the game.

For now, I have no set plans for the future. I might try something completely new, or I might jump back into the games industry again after a short time away. Whatever it is I decide to do, I know that first I want some time off to spend with friends and family, playing some games (Imperial ranks, let's go!) and take it a day at a time. I'll be around, just not on this account, but I play my main account in open so perhaps we'll meet out in the black! You just won't know it's me... ;)

Thanks again, everyone. You really are a wonderful community.

Hmm, has nobody considered that dale spelt backwards is elad. 'El' is 'Spanish' for 'the' and 'ad' is Latin for 'to'.

...

I got nothing. Good luck, Dale.

Aha, so now we know the truth - you don't get enough time to play games, so this leaving thing is just a ploy to get more gaming time.....noice. :p

Anyways, best of luck for the future.
