Raider Kit Appearance Question

How do the Raider Kit parts look with non-raider paintjobs?

I'm thinking about getting the AspX Raider Kit but I'm wondering how it'll combine with my gold wireframe (I know, classy right!?).

If you're in game you can preview ship kits in the livery screen

Good point, but I'm currently flying a Courier, prepping G5s for post-update speed-freak shennanigans.
I'll check it when I get back to home base, but the lighting is usually less than ideal in that view.

Unfortunately the raider parts do NOT change colour, something I hope Frontier will change.

After all, the OTHER parts we add do not require unique paint jobs but instead change to the base colour paint job.

I want my Asp Explorer spiky gold nugget.

That's what I figured.
I like the idea of adding random antennae and spikes to my ship, but not if their rusty look contrasts badly with my chosen paintjob.

It depends, you have to balance things with the kits- fresh paint + rusty spikes looks off.

My most visually pleasing blend is this one:

Ok, that's a bit more like it.
I've let my AspX run down to 0% paint before with BlackFriday.
I'll see how that looks with the gold wireframe before I commit to the kit.

Raider ship kits work best with worn out paint and not ironically the supplied rusty paints. Big ships don't fare as well either, as worn paint is not really visible. Here is a spiky Corvette with a rusty job:

I'm not convinced the spikes work on the big ships at all to be honest.

I think the Corvette raider kit looks good, with the rusty paint jobs. My only gripe is that the colours are all somewhat mid-toned, and its hard to get good contract with ship decals and nameplates - either black, white or gray.

Makes the ships look smaller. They should be covered in tons of smaller spikes, or large spikes which appear to be assembled from multiple pieces of metal, not click-n-drag enlarged versions of the same spikes that are on the small ships.
