I love the game but FD ignoring 95% of folks and caving to 1% makes me want to walk away.

There are hundreds of threads from folks wanting to max out their jump range, and they usually end up with a Coriolis link showing zero cabins, cargo holds, scanners, etc, just an empty hull to get the jump range they want, but now they cannot use the ship for anything productive.

Then I find FS was giving the Type 7 a 61 Ly jump range, what a great thing, almost eveyone would have bought one (I made my first real cr in a Type 7) this excited me more than attaining Admiral.

Meeting my rank goal had me on Cloud 9 and laid back, finally able to just enjoy the wonderful game, nothing can ever discourage me now I thought, then this.

I was elated at the thought of a Type 7 with a 61Ly JR.

But two comments later there was a link for FD, and because those with exploror ships were crying they nerfed the long JR plans because "It would not be fair for it to have a higher JR then the X ships."

I went from cloud 9 and having joy and pride in the game to almost having a deep hatred for it instantly, I love the game, but hate, HATE, the fact that a few babies can cry, and the rest of the community suffers for these cry babies.

Thanks for nothing.

① Wrong forum. (Thread has been moved since…)

② Jump ranges are IMAO too high across the board anyway, and boosting a ship—an extremely cheap one that can already comfortably trade between the bubble and the California Nebula while carrying a set of beam lasers and 256 tonnes of cargo—by over 250% is just plain stupid.

③ Making up percentages is a long-standing tradition.

What a load of tosh! The developers clearly stated that they made an error in upping the FSD to achieve their desired improvement in jump range and so instead have reduced the mass of the ship to give them their desired increase in jump range whilst not making a mockery of "outjumping" designed-for-exploration ships.

I think you should enjoy your enhanced jump range and other improvements to your type 7 and stop making such a drama out of nothing.

Additionally, I think posting a whine in the support sub-forum is really pathetic.

Well put.

The T7 needed a buff, but I don't think the jump range was intended to be quite that high. Lol

45~ly is a good mark (modified).

I've never actually flown the T7.

Or T6 for that matter. Lol

i didnt know about this however from a purely logical POV it makes no sense for a budget heavy trade ship to out jump a light weight exploration ship. that isnt crybabies, that is just cold hard logic.

now, should exploration ships be given jump ranges of 80LR or so, which would then make it logical for a trade ship to manage 60LY? well i have my own feelings about that but that would be for another thread... but the "crybabies" would be right..... it IS silly / nonsensical.

PS you realise YOU would be the crybaby here right? the whole frikken point of beta IS for FD to dabble and then people to feedback. that is not crying.

I can't understand why so many people come here thinking that the only reason Frontier buff/nerf things is because they've somehow been tricked into doing it by a small minority of players.

Every game gets balanced from time to time, but all the decisions are made by the developers who are trying to make the game according to their own vision of the game.

Almost every aspect of the game has players on both sides of the argument who want things made easier/harder, higher/lower, buffed/nerfed, faster/grindier. That doesn't mean that when the Devs decide to make some changes to an aspect of the game they are giving in to or ignoring one side or the other. They're simply trying to make the game the way they think is best.

The T6 isn't a bad little ship for its purpose and price point. It's helped a few of my friends get the funds necessary to work up to bigger and better things.
The T7 - likewise, isn't a bad ship. The placement of the cockpit is a bit wonky from my perspective, but it's a good way for someone to step up into medium-range cargo. And the new (and corrected) buff of a lower weight (adding shield strength, thruster/boost speed, and some jump range), slightly larger PD, and the extra class 2 slot will make it pretty solid, I feel.

It sounds like you totally missed the OPs point.

Or perhaps I have?

It's nothing to do with the T7 - it is to do with any change (or lack of change) being greeted by a bunch of naysayers sucking all the life out things. This small, but vocal minority can sometimes dominate forum threads - and if FDev is naive as the OP fears, they could have undue influence.

But if this is not the point the OP was making - then you are right.

I too think that!
Big- Anaconda with a far better jump range than dedicated explorers? Should be nerfed.
Python hauling similar amount of cargo as T7, while being faster, more agile, smaller, and better at defending itself? Should be nerfed.
Cutter being a better cargo ship than a dedicated Type 9, while being faster and more dangerous to mess with? Should be nerfed.

Yet somehow that's reality today, that the "dedicated" ships are inferior to ships with different "dedication", doing things they're not supposed to be doing better than dedicated ships.
So why do we have those then?

Frontier may be many things, but they actually do listen to folks and their community engagement is solid.

Sure they do. Their recent changes to Engineering so utterly reflected the overwhelming wishes of their community...

Oh...wait...

Agreed.

Why can a Cutter outhaul large, dedicated haulers? Why can a large, heavy Conda out jump an Asp X?

Makes no sense...
