3.0: The Lakon Rises

FD are on about slot racks:
Similar to the fighter hangar you fit the rack and slot in the modules you want. For example Exploration rack: slot an Advanced Discovery Scanner and a surface scanner in one rack.
Really looking forward to this.

Are you making this up? Because I don't want to get excited for nothing.
This would be some sort of solution for the waste of slotspace for scanners on big ships.

IMO, the T6 is the most under-rated ship in the game. Fast, great jump range, and she also makes a great exploration ship. Getting my hands on a T6 was one of the best moments I've had in the game.

The only thing I would change (for the Hauler and Keelback as well) is extra cargo capacity. These are traders, they should be best-in-class for cargo capacity for their respective sizes. I wish FD would do dedicated cargo slots for the T-range of ships.

I'd like some beefier shields on the Keelback, or some military slots.
We do need some more non-rank locked Multicrew ships. Between the Keelback and the Anaconda we have ??? Combat capable...

you forgot some love for the adder.

there are plenty,
because multicrew is not boud to the SLF bay.

and hopefully, FDEV releases more flexible turret versions of the weapons - FLAK and Shock cannons are good, because they do not count as turrets without crew.

and dont forget the Krait that will come in Q2 or Q3

I think the T-6 is more fitting as the agile, versatile commerce vessel it is now. A heavy lifting medium pad ship could be a completely new one. Always eying Zorgon Peterson for filling gaps, like the Transporter for medium. Possibly could go with the Constrictor for small pads, as the fat brother of the Adder, more cargo but less agile, so not as suited for combat. The Hauler would then have the role of the fast, long range courier, outmatching the Constrictor in jump range.

Or maybe I just want more ships.

FD could always lower the hull mass to compensate for extra cargo - its not as if they haven't pulled that trick before.

But yes, bring on more ships. Based on previous livestreams, I suspect they will be Alliance ships with no rank-lock.

Gutamaya/the empire doesn't though, courier clipper and cutter are multirole. Sandy said the courier and clipper didn't receive military compartments because they weren't combat ships even though they require naval rank.

That's why I prefer Imperial ships to the Federations.

Empire is mainly multi-role focused, the Federation is mainly combat focused and independents are a mixed bag.

They can't even be asked to secure the wiring on the roof of the Anaconda's cockpit! Countless health and safety regulations being broken right there! :p

Oh for god’s sake, people. Remember: BALANCE! In ED every ship must have a downside and the Anaconda’s is its unsecured wiring.

Anyone who thinks there is such s thing as s perfect ship is deluded.

But still nothing beats the Python , we can close the thread

Ha, well I love the python, but unless it starts hauling 500+ tonnes of cargo, it will remain one of those ships that I sometimes fly, purely because it served me well before I could afford a heavy hauler.

Funnily your not the first person (OP)to post a piece like this, another was posted along the same lines a few days ago seems there’s a small desire for some of this to be implemented.

Lakon ships are highly underated. They're not flashy nor extraordinarily expensive but are very flexible and get the job done. Very like this ship for example :)

After the c6 internal and the mass reduction that the Chieftain will have, i'm can't wait to put my hands on it.

Regarding Lakon, i like their simple and industrial look, while still have great jump range and overhaul effectiveness.
