Why the unspecified pause after beta?

Been explained, but.. the pause between the end of the beta and the go-live is for 11th hour bug fixes, updates, enabling content that was left out of the beta, and resetting values so that you can't do all your engineering in live for 1 Iron.

Don't know, but I'd go with this ^^^

Also, don't they have to make sure that commodity market information is available for every space port and planetary port that individual commanders have visited? That could be a lot of data sifting. Or is it a limited radius still? I'm confused.

I initially thought the end of the beta was when the patch would drop to live. I got really bummed out.

P.S. Are we there yet?

I heard it's being released when it's ready.

I don't mind when it's being released as the developers need the time to do what is required, however, I hope Frontier give us at least a week's notice so I have time to errm.. catch a cold (or book leave).

In the last newsletter, Frontier announces:

"Chapter One was closed this week! Please stay tuned for more information about the launch."

If we have to stay in alert, in my opinion it's for very soon(tm)

I really hope to see the update to go live until next weekend, because I wont have a decent download speed for another month :(

Ah, but if everybody else downloads it, you will then not be competing for download bandwidth on their servers... ;)

No negativity attached, I just thought its unusual for FD to run a beta test, stop it, and still not give some sort of date for it to be rolled out to the live game.

Maybe there are some unannouced extra features to be included that are taking longer than expected, maybe there are just some issues that will need fixing. Not being negative, just thought it a bit out of the standard FD operating procedure.

Any theories?

They are adding all the mysterious stuff after the beta, this time.

Uhmm, its weekend?

And perhaps they have to discuss some of the feedback a bit more.
For example the KWS situation.

It's fine. FDev does what FDev does. They will inform us eventually.
I hope they get to have a well deserved break in the weekend.

You mean the Panther that they have been badgered about but they have refused to commit to? ;-)

Yep, that Panther.

I hope the reason they are so silent about it is that FDev only want it in the game if they are ready to introduce some new docking mechanics for a new class of Huge ships, just a little bit too big to enter the slot. The Panther Clipper deserves that. If it is just another big ship then why add it at all?

The Panther always was extraordinary compared to other ships in the previous Elite games.
I would love to see a new 'Huge class' of ships in ED that needs to use an external docking system, because they cannot enter the station slot and cannot use a big pad.
And I imagine they also have a special enlarged docking bay that can harbour a capable shuttle.
I can envision all kinds of cool newe gameplay coming from that.

What's more: Braben stated in an interview, one or two years ago, that he would like shuttles in the game.
