Dude! It's not even your thread. The Op asked a valid question about why PvP isn't popular. You might have hijacked into being about the future of PvP, but you have no business telling someone who has a valid opinion in relation to the OP's question to leave.

I don't see anyone here treating you the same way. If you want strictly PvP players to post, perhaps you can make a new thread in the PvP section.

Fdev listen to the Feedback thats given to them. But when its tailored to fit certain people on this forum. Which used to governed by some of the mods here and their views.

There is a Kliq here on these forums. And the same people show up every single time this conversation comes up. And almost every single one of them have 0 experience in the subject.

So no, im not having none of that. Those times are over. Im going to make sure of it.

They dont have to leave. But they shouldnt really be weighing on things they admittedly have no experience effecting everyone else that does. And are looking to better the game. And even remove the toxicity in it.

Just my humble opinion,

The answer to the OPs question revolves around two issues, first is ‘risk vs reward’ and the second being ‘time’

Allow me to expand on those, let’s look at ‘risk vs reward’. With that statement I am as simplistically as possible implying there is NO reward for engaging in PvP. Other than bragging rights you do not benefit from the game. No one wants to be seen as inferior regardless of the light it is shed in and if there is no benefits gained to the activity, well you can see the forgone conclusion I am drawing towards.


Let’s look at ‘time’. With that I am saying that to learn anything in life it takes time. Time is limited more so for others than some. Lack of time leads to lack of *whatever the case may be for any individual*

Its not that PvP isn't popular, its just that Frontier have done virtually all they can, without actually taking it out of the game entirely, to frustrate and limit those who'd like that part of the game, or for it to matter at all. As everyone keeps pointing out, 'its optional'...

Naturally folks get tired of it and stop playing. Out of how many steam owners regularly play the game? Theres the answer. PvP not popular in an online space sim? Really? That doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.

So all that remains are folks who are the anti pvp crowd or those suffering from a concord fallacy. I'd include myself in the latter but I haven't played ED now for quite some time.

So make peoples experience miserable enough when it comes to PvP and they'll go elsewhere. Frontier have done pretty much every else but to tell PvPers to get lost.

One of the last things we need is an Explorer telling us how to balance and improve PVP. Thats what most of the issues are around here.

Everyone sticks their nose into the PVP conversation but dont really take part in any of it.

Here is the thing tho..... If many of the suggestions from PvPers go into place it WOULD affect everyone. PS you know the double standards of telling an explorer to go to the explorer section when there IS a PvP section (that this isn't in) right? IF you folk only want PvPers involved in an echo chamber then post in your part of the forum.

PvP IS an odd fit for ED tho when you look at the lore about the pilots federation. IF FD are serious about PvP they need to boot the law breakers out of the pilots federation complete with all perks and expand the dark wheel . Until that happens then PvP for the sake of PvP makes no sense in the elite universe. Sone do not give 2 figs about game lore and just want pewpew game but many do, and those are less likely to be interested in PvP (in ED).
It is ok to not care about game lore making sense but at least respect those enough who do to acknowledge that changes made to "just PvP" DO affect us all.

I dont care if you hate it or not.

You have no experience in it. You dont take of it at all. But you weigh in what we should or shouldnt be doing. And how people are effected through the modes. And people drop evidence at your feet for years. And all you do is make snide remarks and try to shut them all down.

Youve been doing it for years in Hotel California, Youve doing in the newer parts of the modes of Elite.

When every single bit of it has to do with PVP and how it effects the BGS and modes to boot. Meanwhile, youre out in the black never taking part in any of this stuff. Giving crappy feedback to Fdev along others in your little group. That does the same thing you do. Posting walls of text and so on trying to shut it all down.

PVP is not popular in this game, because of the feedback over the years people like you with no admitted experience.

And because people can take objectives from solo and private removing the need for ANY pvp to exist in this game correctly.

A good idea doesn't need force. You'd like to control who enters a debate, so you can control the outcome.

All along FD has been proving you wrong, I expect that to continue. Time will tell if your crystal ball is as cracked as it appears. I can't see FD alienating the many to benefit the few, but tRump got elected so....

It should effect everyone. This game is PVP based. They balance game around it.

Its no different than a MOBA or League of Legends, You have specific builds, you take objectives and you fight other dudes. Especially when it comes to BGS factions play and powerplay.

Personal progression is perfectly fine in solo and private. But when others are effected. Then PVP should be enabled there. Thats it.

By the way this has been going on long before I got here. Watch the beginning of the Git gud Guide for Open. You'll see him voice their opinion about mod bais when it comes to this part of the game.

I don't think its the case that Frontier has "done all they can". But rather have been schizophrenic about it, tacking quick fixes on top of quick fixes, with zero regard to game balance or player motivation.

Quite simply, FDev does not play the game and does care about fixing PVP. FDev is more focused on running the BGS and telling a story about thargoids.

Except I don't play mobas BECAUSE PvP only. ED is a PvE game which allows PvP for those who want it. Those who don't get to enjoy all features of the game without ever seeing it. I like this. You don't. Again the lore is dead set against PvP. It is like members of the federation in startrek openly blowing each other up but not getting push back from the federation.
FD bend the lore a bit to allow it but as of yet they haven't gone all in. As I said... Kick out mischivants from the pilots federation and maybe a more player combat role will make sense

i ain't never mined, never explored (self destructed both attempts) never done BGS work, i just PvP.
i wouldent be so presumptuous to tell those players how to fix their thing, it makes no sense to try and tell PvP'ers that there is a issue in the thing they know back to front, most far far better than myself.

Well I dont want people attacking my BGS faction then. If PVP is optional, Then people shouldnt be able to attack our playergroup from solo and private either.

Utter nonsense. PvP is a side show. There is almost nothing in game that is affected by PvP. Anything that is, is simply a by product. PvE buckets is where it's at, even in PP.

I will concede that PvP suggestions played a major role in the "Combat Beta" some months ago, but you will remember that FD stopped short of making changes that would adversely affect PvE concerns. I can't see how one would expect FD to change that course now.
