Most Essential Mats/Data to stockpile before patch?

Makes sense to max your G5 mats right now - especially data / manufactured as they seem harder to farm (raw are easy from braintrees / barnacles). The main thing the traders will do is allow v.cheap G1 mats to be creates from G1+, so you can ditch all them if you don't need 'em now.

And the traders didn't allow raw -> manufactured etc (I don't think) so you need G5 in each.

Good to know we can exceed max, though I haven't got that issue ;)

I didn't see Polonium on your list. That one has some good trade down value for some of the harder to find G3 and G4 raw materials.

My current 2.4 inventory looks a lot like yours. I have basically been stocking up on all the G5 mats/data in the game along with a few choice G4s and the usual suspects of (so-called) common origins that are frequently included in popular module upgrades across the board.

I am holding on to lower grade stuff until the last minute, when a mission or discovery requires that I dump something to make room for additional stock of a G5 or valued lower grade whatever.

Can't wait for the new inventory system! It will be a true pleasure to be able to literally scoop up EVERYTHING I encounter and know that it will never again be wasted/dumped into space simply to make room for something else I need more at the time. Everyone knows that the second you dump something, it will be a vital ingredient in a future module upgrade.

I have nothing but G5 mats right now. That was a good way to eat up about 4 or 5 days of gaming for me. I threw out tons of lower grade mats. Then we had a CG to hand in mats!! LOL GG FDev, you got me.

The problem, as I see it, is I won't be able to trade down for lower grade mats when the update goes live. Instead I'll just collect those too, so I'll be full of lower grade mats AND have 200+ of some of the higher mats.

FD did say we could keep more than 100 if we had them. And in the beta I had like 132/100 EFC and 113/100 of something else, but I can't remember what that was. I would assume the same will hold true when the update goes to the live servers.

You can get tons of MEF by evacuating the burning stations.

But I don't get the "before 3.0" thing.
All the gathering should be much easier after 3.0, not before.
The only thing to consider is, if you come across higher grade mats with full inventory, you can ditch lower stuff for it because of the mat trade in 3.0.
But going out there and intentional gathering stuff before 3.0 only makes sense if something is going to be nerved in 3.0, but I don't heard about that.

We've been doing it the whole time.

I've basically been ditching any G1 and G2 mats and also now starting to have to look into reducing or ditching g3 mats (and the insane amount of g4 shield scans I accumulated) as still running close to running out of space

The MEF thing? Because I evacuated around 2000 and got 100 EFC and 50 MEF and other G5 stuff in one or two hours.

And the easier thing is obvious, because we don't have to think about ditching anymore... simply collect all stuff you come across and trade if you you need something or one mat storage is full. :)

Personally I ain't stockpiling. My plan in its entirety is to hit up the barnacle sites, stock up on a ton of materials of all kinds. Swap it for things I need at the mats trader then repeat. At the same time I'll gather some meta alloys to fund at least part of my chieftain and/or krait.
