Cold Waters

Someone I know picked this up for me on Steam a day or two ago.

Have to say, I'm hooked.

Simu-lite style of gameplay cold war era submarine adventures.

Fight the Soviet Navy both when it has superiority and when NATO gains the upperhand, in a series of enjoyable missions, with new campaigns being added and it being a very easy to mod game as well to boot.

Anyone else a fan?

Just played it this week end again. U-Boot sims are like flight sims for chilling out to me. It's like an improved version of Red Storm Rising, which I quite liked back then.
I'm also looking forward to "U-Boot" or wossname.

The boardgame that got kickstarted recently, or that Swedish/Dutch VR thingy?

i went under several sub sims back in the day, but the cold war era setting isn't really appealing to me

It's OK, still keep going back to 688 Hunter/Killer and Sub Command. I miss staring at the SONAR "waterfall". Weirdly.

Biggest gripe I have with it is not being able to save when I want. I detest save points in any single player campaign.

Its a nice game but I still prefer good old Janes Sub Command. Still its good to see new submarine title.

Ha, funnily just reinstalled those on my going away machine.

I'm surprised you both didn't mention Dangerous Waters, seen as it was the last Sonalysts game and gave you massive platform variety.

Just can't get on with DW. Truly have no idea why there just seems to be something slightly "off" about it. Quite happy to admit it's probably me and not DW.

I won a copy in one of Tim Stone's Flare Path competitions a while ago, have had a bit of a play around with it but haven't really been able to devote as much time to it as I'd like to. Might have a go tonight while the girls are getting all rom-com'ed up for Valentines...

It might be what I couldn't get with it originally, the other platforms (the OHP, Seahawk and Orion) seen as they were the only real 'new' things added.

Funnily that was my job in the real world for a long time.

I don't think it's a VR game, isn't tagged as such on Steam.

I might have been getting my things confused. The way that looked to me was a VR game akin to Bridge Crew, but if it's more like Artemis I'll probably be more than happy.

That was my father's too, on frigates though, not subs.

I'm a skimmer too now. I can barely live with the shame :D.

In other news, the China Sea campaign seems to be progressing well, with a new map, and two new controllable subs: Seawolf (ugh) and Flight 3 LA's. It'll be soon time to slap an antiquainted brown water navy around with all the might that a Cold War Blue Water one can muster.
