Looks uncomfortable and not very smooth in operation...
About 9 hours ago the creators of this device said, "yesterday we solved an issue with elite, there came out very rough angular speed data from the game, so we made a smooth on it and it was great."
I know I am seriously considering backing this Kickstarter. Not only for Elite Dangerous, but for flight simulation and driving simulation. Got my tax return coming soon and hoping it gets here before 24 Feb when the Kickstarter ends. I know it seems like a lot of money but every motion simulator I have looked at is a lot more expensive. And DYI projects would probably still cost you about as much as one of these and you would still have to actually build it and get it working. Plus this is the first one I have run across that has a full 360 degree yaw and will work with or without a PC. Fortunately with the whole cable issue of high end VR equipment you can limit the amount of yaw, that is until a fully spin capable device for all the cables can be found or created by someone.
They have already reached their initial goal and in their forums at
https://www.yawvr.com/forum/yaw-vr-club it was questioned about making sure people will be able to get their products with less than 200 backers. The creators stated, "I agree that $900 is lots of money, even on Kickstarter this amount is not a usual pledge. So I know and feel that my responsibility is huge. For production we have two plans. We started to find Investors. If we can raise investor capital then we will prepare mass production mostly with vendors from China. (By the way guys if you have any investor around you please let them know about us!) If I will see there is no chance to find investors on time we will start the production immediately, in that case the standard parts (e.g. motors, wheels, bearings, leds etc.) will come from third party vendors, but the custom parts will be made here in Hungary. Our budget is based on this last scenario so we are safe even if we will not have any investor.
The prototype from structural point of view is close to final product (of course we have lots of feedbacks and ideas and experience about what and how we have to change) and since we produced the prototype already we have all the professional sources for almost all the parts but definitely for all the main parts.
So yes, I can promise we will deliver Yaw VR for all our backers.
Yep, seriously considering backing this!!!
