Trucking for the sake of trucking

He,

I was just wondering if anyone else trucks for the sake of trucking? Perhaps I'm just getting old, but I find it relaxing. Make money, enjoy the view, some jazz in the background, silent running into no-fire zones...

Cheers,

I guess anyone that is still playing must do.

Totally with you on this one Commander! :D

The irony of your screen name and your post is baffling...

Besides that enjoy!

I do enjoy moving cargo just for the cargo-moving, and I think this will be even more interesting (not to mention challenging) when they add the dynamic economy and background simulation.

Yep with you on this one Dixie. Love sitting here for a couple of hrs at a time just hauling stuff to & from. The occasional 'incident' livens things up a bit sometimes (don't get me started on the 'station manners' of NPCs :D), but for the most part it's rather serene ;-)

You are most certainly not alone. It's quite therapeutic. :)

Well yes, I do just like the experience of it, something to do to relax, like fishing I suppose except I prefer to do this than fish.

It's great to lean back in anaconda, playing some gentle prog. trance in the background and hauling/cruising, going where ever you want. Great way to unwind from days work.

The view is spectacular, although the not-totally-black colors on LCD kinda spoil it.

It's so much easier now than before in an inferior ship. Funny thing, a sidewinder pulled me out from SC to pirate me. He said "don't worry" and he was right :)

I too like to live sedately. Oh! How my son laughed as I happily drove around the highways and byways of Europe in EuroTruck Sim 2, delivering fertilizer to Aberdeen and concrete pipes to Paris. I get almost the same 'zen' moments delivering gold to H Draconis, but with the added edge of knowing there's a small possibility I could run into trouble en route. At least the other trucks in ETS2 weren't equipped with gimballed lazors...

Cheers indeed. Maybe we are getting old, but then again, we are the first generation of gamers to get old, so meh... If this galaxy isn't big enough to let you do what you want, then nothing ever will be. Happy trucking!

I'm right there with ya, pal. I have sank a lot of time into ETS2 and have loved every minute of it. But now that I've traded my Volvo FH in for a Sidewinder, no regrets. :D

I traded my fully kitted cobra in for a type 6 yesterday and am loving it! Maybe where there's money to be made fighting I wail go back but for now, the open road and 100 tonnes of fish are calling to me!

I miss my hauler though it was a del boy van. it had character. ;)

You're not the only one. The most immersive part of the game is simply pootling around in space...flying for flyings sake, and watching the stars go by.

Given that some of the best selling games in Europe (especially Germany) are the simulation ones such as Euro Truck simulator and train simulator there is a market for people who want to run cargo all over the place.

It also makes for more interesting exploration, take a load to a new place sell up look around and then pick up a new cargo to another place.
